Because I did 5.05 miles in 57:26 with an average pace of 11:22!! I did 5 miles on the treadmill last week and my pace was 13:02. I didn't have high hopes for the run because I have been struggling all week on the treadmill and yesterday gave up after 1.5 miles at a 13:20 pace. I felt great this morning and wanted to keep going, but I had to stop because DS started fall tee ball this morning.
I seriously have a hard time maintaing a decent pace on steady /average treadmill runs too. I think they work well for shorter repeats (such as doing multiple .25 or .5 mile segments with a few minutes rest between ) because then I just force myself to crank up the speed & hit the pace. But I do much better on normal runs outside. It's supposed to be "easier" on the TM, but usually I don't find it to be. Glad you did so well and discovered you like running outdoors! Bravo!

This. I only like treadmills if I'm trying to hold a specific pace for a specific period of time. If that's not the type of run I'm doing, I 1000% would rather be outside.
Nice job! My first run outside as an adult is the run where I fell in love! I know it's harder physically, but so much easier mentally that the physical part doesn't matter as much. Getting off the treadmill forever changed running for me.
