How long have you been teaching? And do you have a Masters degree?
I've been teaching for 12 years and I have an M.Ed. NC is one of the lowest states for teacher pay.
You'd be making $50,900 in my district with your masters (you probably have masters plus grad hours, so would make more). We're one of the better paying districts in our state, but our benefits are not good. I'm in my 9th year, BA+36 (finishing up my masters soon), and my base pay is $46,600. My favorite way to make extra money is subbing during my plan period. I'm already here and it pays pretty well!
I sit right around 50 before my bonus. Bonus is based on how well the entire division performs. Just started here in July so not exactly sure how much it will be but from previous years it looks good. I work in oil & gas. What really drew me to public company was the better retirement match.
$56k base plus a small bonus each year. I'm a little bitter because I make a lot less than my coworkers who have the same title, simply because I started my career here and worked my way up. It really pays to move companies every few years.
I can't see the poll but I was in the $75-100K range when I gave birth to #1. I had a 50% increase in salary when I moved to my second job a year before having #2 (and a few raises since- including one last week -woo!)
PDQ - Just under $75k and I'll get small raises until I hit the max for my job, which is $90k in my region. That max is still 10 years away though based on our pay schedule.
gravytrain225 I'm a contract specialist for the feds.
I actually don't think that is that bad. At my last public job after five years I made less than 29k for 40 hrs. It is the biggest reason I left.
LOL that "less than 25k" is not that bad. I have two masters degrees. I'm not complaining I'm just...I don't know, laughing I guess.
oh well it's shameful how low compensation is in general for the profession. I just meant that for the profession that's not bad for 20 hrs. In my experience. But you're right, that's not saying much.
Ahhh yea! I used to work by where you are now. I'd eat lunch in your building or the one next to it, I forget where that pasta bar is.
The pasta bar is in the hotel. Sadly I don't work in either of those buildings - the starbucks would be mych closer if i did! We actually occupy a half dozen buildings in that area and another one across the freeway.
Aww, yes that was the closest Starbucks to my old office too. I didn't realize y'all had so many buildings close by.

I do not consider myself a WM since I work only a handful of times a year. I make between $20-25K doing consulting projects about seven times a year. No benefits but I do not have to pay SE taxes.
If I worked full time, I'd be at 65k. The highest I can go in my current position is 68k. Right now I work between 20-26 hours per week, so annually I bring home between 35-48k. This year I will be around 42k. DH is the bread winner, but has some extensive travel. My job has some flexibility, which has proved invaluable with DD (she is two).
I'm feeling MMM poor. I work part time, 20-30 hours/week, for a small affiliate of a non profit. I'm the event director now, but I plan to talk to my boss about turning my role into a state director role next month. I make $25/hour, and Bring almost nothing home after I pay for daycare and preschool for the girls. No benefits of any kind.
still! That is good, at least in the places I have worked.
Then that is a shame and not good. Sorry, I can't be convinced that it is a decent salary-especially since I will be making this amount for at least the next 3 years .
I'm not saying its a decent salary. I'm just saying IME its not below the norm. So FOR ME, it would be good given the circumstances. I'm not saying you should feel like you are rolling in the dough
Because I think it is pretty terrible. Not to mention NC has done away with Masters pay (unless you've been grandfathered in and already have it) and we only have 6 steps for pay increases. It is laughable and Houston actively recruits teachers in NC.
Oh no, I think it is absolutely terrible. But sadly, it is on the high end of what I have heard some of my teacher friends make (although my pool of teachers is very small and are concentrated mostly in the midwest). As a whole, I think teachers are grossly underpaid (even with their 8 weeks of vacation or whatever it is that some teachers get!).

I'm on the higher side of the $50-$75K with bonuses and a small commission plan. I work at a tech company in support in a LCOL area. H is totally the breadwinner of our family.

ftr I've never known a teacher that gets paid for the summer. Most teachers are 9-10 month employees. And of course 12 month employees are compensated accordingly.
Are you staff? I work on campus now and am in the masters program and this is what my future will probably look like. Right now I made 40 without my masters but it's a in an entirely different job area on campus. I just really want to get into student se3vices..

I am professional staff. We are on the academic side. A coworker without master's just started and is making 35k. I am glad for vacation and benefits because the rest here is not good.
