Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! I am just over a month out, it has gone by fast.
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Knock on wood, I'm pretty happy with where I am. I may have signed up for too many races, I can't help myself.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. I am so not original
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I imagine I'd want to drop them on the bridge heading into Crystal City, but I'm fine with the solo time 97.9% of the way.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? The mornings are great, but sadly I've been running after work cause I need time to get in my runs right now. The hi temps are still a little too warm for my race day preferance. If I had a weather magic wand I'd take 10 degrees off both the hi and low.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. I try and incorporate stregth training and stetching. I haven't had time to make it to a yoga class recently, but hope to make it during taper.
Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! I'm not ready yet. I need these last two weeks before taper time to really feel fit and confident toeing the line
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? More MP runs.
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I generally prefer to be alone. I think I will be looking forward to seeing my coaches and running buddies in the last 10k though.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? It's cooked off but it's still freaking humid. I'd like for that to stop.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. I ended up walking from the metro to work which involved a short climb up some steep 'steps' in a state of disrepair to get from neighborhood streets to the trail. Thoughts if how stupid I'd feel if I hurt myself right then certainly danced through my head. Basically I just try to avoid doing stupid shit.
To prevent actual running injuries, if it hurts I stop. I also take recovery seriously and take extra rest days as warranted.

Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! One more tough week to go (20 miler this weekend) and then it's taper time!! Things are going well.
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? So far, so good. No regrets yet! First marathon, I don't know any better.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. marathon trainees get hungry!
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I hope to see family and friends wherever they can find a place to see me! I know how much race spectating can be tiring/boring/frustrating for non-runners.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? Weather has cooled down and humidity has dropped--thank God! Race day will probably be 15-20 degrees cooler though.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. Take my rest days seriously, foam and ball roll my sore spots before they get too sore, and do hip strengthening exercises.
Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! A little over a month left. Feeling good.
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Nothing really. I've been doing what I can, and I'm having fun with training. I think that's about all I can ask for.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. I just keep running. I may not hit all my speed work or pace runs, but I still keep trucking along.
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I loved having my H and oldest at mile 21 ish last year. So fun! The kids have their home meet that day this year, so we still need to work out how I can get out of VA as quick as possible.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? I'd like to see it about 10-20 less. It is perfect in the mornings, but I don't get out until later.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. Follow the plan, rest days, strength/PT exercises (although this time in the cycle is when I usually slack on those things) I also don't wear heels or flip flops too often. They mess up my Achilles like crazy.
Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! It is motherfucking taper time!!!
I finished my 20 mile run pretty strong. Negative splits, 10:25 pace, didn't hate life afterwards. And Caffeinated raspberry Tailwind ftw!
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Stretch more, listen to my body.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. I can't think of anything.
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I prefer not having H and my kids there. When they're at a race I tend not to focus. Besides, my run buddies will be out on the course with me.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? As long as I can run in the morning I'm ok. On Saturday the humidity was a little too high for my liking. As of this morning accuweather is predicting 56 degrees, 40% humidity. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. Follow my plan. And I scrapped the 5k I was going to run the week before race day.

Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! I think I only have two more real weeks of training before taper. I feel like this training cycle has gone by much faster than previous ones.
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? I don't think I'll know the answer to this until after I finish the race and see what went right/wrong.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. The taper gets sweeter. (I am a weirdo who likes taper.)
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I usually don't have a cheering squad, but a couple of friends came out last year, and they may come out again this year. Somewhere near the end is good. It gives me a little more mental energy.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? The weather has gotten really nice over the past week. Ideal running temps for me are around 50 degrees and overcast or partly cloudy.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. I don't have a good answer, but I get really paranoid (anxious) the week before a marathon. If someone sneezes, I start freaking out.

Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! Me! So ready to be done! Going to a sports rehab place today to see about my calf (they have PT, Massage and Chiro, so hopefully one of them can fix it!)
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? I would have listened to the prescribed paces for long runs all along. In the beginning, I didn't feel like I could run that slow and when mileage got up there, I had trouble hitting the long run paces. I also would have skipped that running on the beach thing last month - I'm pretty sure that's where my jacked calf muscle started!
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers.
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? Only my partner will be with me. I would love to see her somewhere along the course, but not sure if that will happen. Definitely at the end, so I can just collapse and she can throw food at me lol
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? Weather is great! It was a little warm this weekend, but still 60s/70s. I'm hoping for mid-50s-60s on race day.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. Well, apparently I failed at this...now I'm scrambling to find something/someone to fix my calf before I have to hobble for 26.2 miles!! I'm being extremely conservative with my remaining runs. If it hurts, then I'm holding back or cutting it short - not worth the risk at this point.
Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! I'm still like 7 weeks out, so lots of training left
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Not sign up for a 10K on October 11
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. the crazy get up at 430AM to get their run in
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? Hmm...probably like mile 21-22 and maybe mile 14, not sure how we'll manage that, but we'll try
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? Warm on Saturday/Sunday, much warmer than race day will be and my ideal weather
Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. I have a pretty narrow focus, so I'm not doing much cross training. I stick to my schedule, rest when I'm supposed to. Run within the prescribed pace to prevent burnout. Also, I wear ugly but comfy shoes for commuting, walking. I blame walking 2 miles in flip flop type shoes for my hip injury. So stupid.
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I imagine I'd want to drop them on the bridge heading into Crystal City, but I'm fine with the solo time 97.9% of the way.
YES - this was me last year. That bridge is so lonely and when it gets tough!
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? nothing right now!
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. i start doing math in my head - calculating how many miles, avg pace per mile, where i will be at certain points. Or sometimes Pat Benatar gets stuck in my head
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? okay H&F Kiawah ladies - it'd be nice to see y'all near the end And at the end, of course.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? this weekend and week it is FALL WEATHER - so it is really nice I'd love marathon day to be 50s/60s and no humidity.
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. epsom salt baths to soak my legs, foam roll and cross-training!
I totally wanted to answer my questions today because I could write an essay, but I found out when I plugged back into reality 5 minutes ago that one of our dear friends from home passed away today, and now I'm a shitfuck mess. Ugh.
Who is ready to graduate from their training cycle?!?! Tell us how training is going! Mememe! Race day is Sunday! It is going just okay.. I am not expecting great things come race day. I am starting to get a cold, weather is supposed to be hot, etc...
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Nothing really... It hasn't been great, but I haven't had lofty goals either. This training cycle was just to get me back in the swing of things after facing serious burnout at the end of my last cycle. I feel like I've accomplished that.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. I don't think I have an answer for this one?
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? Usually, my H tries to see me in 4ish places along the course and at the finish line. This time, he has a work trip that came up last minute so I will be going at it alone. I'm a little bummed, but hopefully still have a good time.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? Training weather has been great, with the exception of some serious wind. Unfortunately, race day is supposed to warm up quite a bit. Hopefully the forecast will magically change!
Why do I do things to put myself in harms way this close to my marathon? Ugh, a couple more days without running and then I'm going to wrap myself in bubble wrap. Tell us what you do to prevent injury (or in my case, stupidity) during training. I wish I could tell you! This weekend I slammed the patio door against the back of my heel and have a mega huge bruise. It's pretty tender right now, but hopefully it will go down in a few days.
Well, once I start actually running again, I think it'll be great. Between post-marathon resting and now being a carrier of the plague, I'm not sure when that will be.
What would you do differently if you could restart this cycle today? Um...have run the marathon I wanted to two weeks ago.
When the going gets tough, the ____ get _____. Fill in the blanks with your own marathon answers. non-BQ-ers get going on another cycle
Where do you want to see your family/friends/anyone cheering for you along the marathon course? Or do you prefer to tame the beast solo? I think it would be nice to see people a little sooner, before I want to die. But if I'm honest, running alone is perfectly fine.
How is your training weather these days? How far from race day weather/your ideal weather is it right now? I'm pretty sure it's hotter now than it was during the month of August. I'm really quite sick of it, because getting up in the mornings during fall is too DARK. I don't want to spend more money on gear I'm only going to use for a couple of weeks a year. It needs to cool the fuck off in the days so I can just move to running after school. This is seriously stupid - it's supposed to be high 80s and near 90 this week. That is approximately as far as I can be from my ideal race weather, which is clouds and 50s.
This was very sudden, he was sick and boom, gone in a matter of hours (don't know all the details yet). He left behind a very long term girlfriend and a 2 year old son. My heart is breaking for them. And it sucks harder knowing there nothing we can do right now on our vacation 3k miles from home.
