I ran the CASA Superhero Race yesterday. It was so much fun and for such a great cause. I wasn't expecting a good run because I ran my 5 mile run Saturday for my training schedule and I was breaking the cardinal rule of never wearing new running gear on race day. I bought some new shoes on Saturday when I went to pick up my race packet because I had put 275+ miles on my old pair and I could feel it. The last few runs in my old shoes would result in me limping around for the rest of the day. It didn't hurt when I was running in the shoes but my feet gave me hell afterwards.
So I got to the race yesterday. It was a little cloudy at first but then of course when the airhorn blew for us to go, they moved and there wasn't a cloud in sight. My feet felt great in the new shoes (Thank goodness!) I think I got passed by a few kids under 10 during the race. After seeing them pass me there was no way I was going to let a kid beat me. So I just sped up. The kids still beat me though. Ha. So the kids got me to finish at 30:09:06. 7th in my division, 26th out of the women's group, 74th overall. Maybe if I hadn't taken the few walking stops because I was melting I could have actually been closer to top three for my division. Something to train for I guess.
ETA: here's a picof one of my favorite costumes at the event. And they ran/walked in those.

I debated on if I should dress up or not and decided not to. I saw the Thundercats, a lot of Thors, a ton of Capt America's and then where there are superheros there are a few villians. My favorite villan was Bowser from Mario Brothers. I'm totally going to do this race again next year and will totally be dressing up and hopefully DS will race with me.
