Our medical/bathroom stuff (cough syrup, Band Aids, ointment, things that aren't used every day) is all put in two open-top baskets that sit on the bottom two shelves of this IKEA unit: www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90093764/ The other shelves hold clean towels, my makeup bag, and some other small things we use every day. We don't have a medicine cabinet in our bathroom and don't plan to install one. There's a small cabinet under the sink but it's already full of linens.
I've mentioned before that MH hates the baskets, but he can't come up with a better solution. It's a PITA to sort through them when we need something. I came across an interesting solution in a blog post about an emergency kit: a tackle box.
Ours wouldn't be this big or have this much stuff, but it certainly looks like it keeps things organized and easy-to-find. I'm just wondering if a tackle box is going to look weird in a bathroom - this is our main floor bathroom so our guests would see it. I don't think it really looks like an obvious tackle box, though.

I have little plastic drawers from Target. The kind that have a plastic box with three drawers that pull out, like this:
The ones I have are pretty small, so I have two of them that have 3 drawers each. I like the small size because I have everything in different categories (which I labeled with my label maker ;-) ) so stuff is less likely to get lost.
Is it that he doesn't like to see baskets or that things get jumbled inside them? If its the latter, combine the ideas. Get some of the plastic bins like that tackle box has, label them, and line them up in the baskets.
They make those plastic cases in all sorts of sizes and shapes. I think we have at least one of each size (my husband loves his tackle and organization lol)
Do you have room in your kitchen? We have a cabinet that's high/not practical for most daily use things and that's where we store medications and vitamins and such. (I don't know if that's weird, my mother always kept that stuff in the kitchen so I do, too.)

I think that this is a great idea.
For us, since things wouldn't be on display, I may have to steal the tackle box idea.
What about something like this (they come in different color options including opaque - Really Useful Boxes is the brand):
You could also add a wall cabinet or a behind-the-toilet cabinet (these are from Target):
Actually we also have several mirrors with built-in medicine cabinets. They stick out a little more from the wall but we have one that is really subtle and attractive looking. I could send you a pic of ours if you're interested.

We keep our first aid stuff in the kitchen too, on the top shelf of a cabinet, in tins like these (also from Ikea). The labels make it easy to pull down the one you need. We even have one for dog medicines, lol.
We don't have any hall closets, and no more storage space in the kitchen.
IDK if MH dislikes the baskets themselves, or if he dislikes that everything is tossed in them. He just tends to grunt and say, "I hate these." Although that usually happens after he's digging through it to find something, so I'm going to guess that he just doesn't like how long it takes to find things in them.
I think he likes the idea of a tackle box/craft box, so next time we're in a store I'll have him look at different options.
I have the clear plastic divider shelves (as shown in your link) that I keep in the linen closet in the hall next to the bathroom. I would not keep the items in an open basket on a bottom shelf - that is a safety hazard for children, animals. You want closed storage - stack if needed on the bottom shelf if you want it there - otherwise add shelving in the bathroom for the containers.
