I am pretty positive Lily is weaning. We were down to morning, before bed and sometimes before nap. I am pretty much dried up from this pregnancy. A few days ago she said "no more milky, I miss milky" ouch. So the sessions have been getting shorter and shorter.
The weirdest thing is her latch. It's like she is forgetting how to nurse? Tonight was so weird, I don't know what she was doing. I asked her and she said, "I don't know". Is this part of weaning? Has this happened to anyone else? It's strange that she could just forget how to do something she's done her whole life.
I'm ok with her weaning, it feels like time. I'm pretty emotional about it though. I think my hormones are going crazy mixed with my pregnancy hormones. I think I will tell her tomorrow that nene is going bye bye soon and when it's gone we will go to build a bear and make a new bear, that she can snuggle if she misses nene. Ah, so many feelings.
big hugs for you! I think your build a bear idea is sweet. When my milk was gone G got really lazy with her latch. Is that it? I hope it's a smooth transition for you.

Yes exactly, her latch is really lazy and awkward. It kind of hurts. So I guess that's just a normal part of it, thanks for replying.
Yep. C did this for a few weeks before she weaned herself, and I still had a decent supply. I think she was just "done", but wasn't sure how to make the transition herself. GL!
Hugs! We are in a similar situation - H is down to nursing mostly just before bed for a few minutes, sometimes before nap if I let her. I think I'm ready to be done and at this point it's mostly a comfort thing. I'm ok with maybe a few more weeks so we'll see but I think after that I will gently tell her it's all gone and we will snuggle instead. I'm thinking the latch is probably because there's no milk left and she's not exactly sure what to do with her mouth now. I love the Build-a-Bear idea! I might have to steal that
The build-a-bear idea is so sweet. I love it. Kai's latch had gotten pretty lazy by the time we weaned, and he was less likely to just snuggle up and nurse - he was more active and wanting to talk about it and nurse while doing other stuff. He didn't wean on his own, but his changing nursing habitats definitely pushed things along.

For us, we talked about it and how she needed to open wider to not hurt mommy. She was mostly able to fix it, but it was still a little uncomfortable (though tolerable) until A was born.

They can forget pretty easily. When H weaned, after I went in a trip, she tried once and her latch was wonky and I was pretty dried up so she wasn't into it. Big hugs, it's bitter sweet but it sounds ideal and a peaceful way to bring things to a close. The build a bear idea is cute.

That's what I was thinking too, since there's no milk it's like she doesn't know what to do. It's worse on the side that had always had a lower supply and dried up first. I want to keep the before bed snuggles too, last night I sang her a song. Maybe that will be our new thing.
❤️hugs, mama. A song sounds like a perfect new tradition. I was heartbroken at first because C's not much of a snuggler, but our bedtime routine just keeps evolving. Right now it's "mama! Tickle me and eat me!", so I tickle her and nom on her neck every night before bed. You'll find something awesome that makes you both really happy.

Just want to send some hugs! You have done a great job and sounds like things are winding down peacefully. The bear idea is so cute. Don't forget to treat yourself too!
