(heart) (heart) (heart) MCM is not my area (or first love), but this is wonderful! Is that a refrigerator built into the brick??!? Did you say some of the appliances don't work? I can't remember if that was you too, or only bluesky. If so, what, if anything, are you planning to do about that since they are all built-in like that?
That was the fridge built into the wall. It didn't work, and honestly if we had it repaired it would have barely held what we needed to keep cold and close by. So sadly, we took it out and slid a new fridge into the space (which is fully bricked so we were limited on size big time). The oven works, and is about the size of a microwave. So when it dies, my microwave will live in there. Then the cooktop (which was replaced in the 90s I think) will be replaced with a 48" duel fuel range.
So the plan now is to just work with the space as it is. I have suggested to DH that maybe we could slide everything out of their nooks by a foot because reaching the back burners and being 5'11'' isn't so easy as the opening ends around the level of my mouth. Then putting in some pantry cabinets along the face of the bottom of the brick. But he isn't so keen on the idea. But it will be a while before we have the kitchen done. But it will be my goal to try to maintain the features of the house that drew us to it in the first place!

Really cool house! I JUST saw a kitchen makeover where they had a similar built-in nook situation. I believe that they relocated the cooktop elsewhere and used the former builtin space as a baking area and/or coffee beverage station. Food for thought. If I had any idea at all how or where I stumbled on it, I would post the link for you.
