So last Wednesday I decided to use my Paypal account money to order myself a target giftcard. So I ordered an email one- it was supposed to arrive "within 4 hours" per the order confirmation. The money instantly disappeared from my account.
The next day, I still had not recieved it, so I called Target.com. They tell me sorry, it'll be another 24 hours. I'm annoyed and so they give me a $10 gift card. Well gee, this one comes through to my email instantly.
Another day goes by and I get an email that says that there is a delay on "shipping" your order- it'll be arriving on 5/12- 3 days after I placed the order. I'm livid. 5/12 comes and goes- no giftcard. I call and they tell me that there is "additional processing time needed" and it will arrive on 5/15. My money has been gone for 5 days now. No giftcard.
I finally got my email GC today- but guess what! It won't let me add it to the app, which is the ONLY way to use an email giftcard at a physical store. I've now been on the line with Target in India for 27 minutes because they insist that I'm doing it wrong. I'm not. I've done this before. It says invalid card number. I'm damn near throwing this fucking phone across the room. OMG I hate them so much.
Can you explain to me the rational behind ordering a gift card for yourself if you are going to go spend it in the store?
The money that I used to buy it was in my PayPal account, so I wouldn't be able to use it at the store otherwise. I could have transferred it to my bank account, but I *thought* that would take longer.
You can print it out and hey have to enter a code to get it to work. I had a 15 dollar one emailed to me when the canceled an order and didn't tell me. It took finding the right person but they can enter it into the computer.
If you have an event code and pin number on it, they had to add something random to the pin number.

I learned something recently about target.com and paypal. If you buy stuff from target.com and pay via paypal, when you return it, you can only get a gift card. You can't get a refund. I think its important to point out because I didn't know that and purposely ordered extra stuff that I wasn't going to keep (like two sizes of the same dress) and was somewhat annoyed when I couldn't get a refund.
of course I then spent my gift card on tons of stuff in about 5 minutes, but yeah, its an annoying policy that isn't really made clear unless you drill down on the refunds page.
