Just fact checking this, it was a contract employee not an air traffic controller. Huge difference. The contract employee could be anyone from a trainer to a cook. They aren't federal employees. Things will remain slow but with Indianapolis taking over air space it will get better. They will likely work around the clock to get service restored in Illinois.

Thanks, I saw the story and was running out the door. I just skimmed. They were, by the last article, hoping to get things going at 2. So bizarre either way. Must be chaotic.

I realize I sound a little snotty, sorry. Controllers have a rough reputation, I get a little defensive of my H. It's a nightmare there according to friends but the put the emergency plan in place quickly.

Yikes! I didn't know your h was one. I really meant no disrespect or harm, just throwing it out there to discuss/get more info. I apologize if it was derogatory to controllers. And despite being here for years, I've no idea how to link a story, so most of what I pits is just blurbs and no link to actual facts

Highlight story url. Copy. Paste in reply box. Hit create post. It makes a hyperlink on it's own.

I have a very good friend who is also a Controller so I get defensive of them as well. Especially the ones in New York Center, YIKES!!
I had no idea ATCs have a bad reputation. I always think about how hard that job must be.
Me neither!
And thx wawa can I do it from my phone? 99% of the time I'm posting from phone. (iPad now)
yeah, assuming the ipad works the same way the iphone does, you just tap on the url of the story, then tap and hold till a little bubble with options pops up - hit select all and then hit copy. then switch back to your window with the board post and tap and hold in the reply box, then hit paste on the pop up bubble.
If that's not right I'm sure somebody with an ipad can set you right. C&Ping an entire article is a giant pain in the ass, but the link itself is pretty easy.

You were totally fine. Promise. I just felt compelled to throw my added details in because it's a personal topic for me.

Sadly a lot of them make bad choices, at work and in their personal lives, usually as a release valve to manage stress. My H works with some amazing people and some real jerks. Some of the stories have done nothing to help my fear of flying.

I just saw he had been working in "telecommunications" for them for 8 years and was being transferred to Hawaii. Seems to have played into his decision? So bizarre. I hope he gets help. He clearly needs it. (I wanted to try to link the story, but it's on cnn.com front page, so Jo need for link I suppose)
