DD is about 6.5 months. She's never been a huge eater. I nurse her 3-4 times a day, plus she gets 10.5oz of bm at daycare. She doesn't love solids, but she'll take about 1TB of a puree once a day, if that. I think I'm going to focus on doing higher fat foods like avocado since she's such a peanut and doesn't eat a lot.
How much did you give/are you giving your sixish month old to eat?
Also, when did you introduce a sippy or straw cup? I have some Zolibot straw cups. Should I just put a little water in those to start? I still want the majority of what she gets to be bm or higher calorie/fat foods so the kid can put on some weight.

My son is only a few weeks older so this is very fresh in my mind!
He is a tiny guy who Hated food from the start. We started at 6 months and he would cry and cry and projectile vomit anything we got into him. I dreaded feeding time. So up until 7 months or so, he actually ingested very little food. Then all of a sudden, it was like a light bulb went off and he's all about it. At 7 months, we started sending about 1 oz purée to daycare for breakfast and did some food for dinner at home. And just now at 8 months he's wanting more, though I suspect I have supply issues contributing to that. We just started sending 2 meals to daycare of about 1.5 oz each, and he has a 1.5-2 oz dinner, if he wants that much, and sometimes he doesn't.
We started giving him a sippy and straw cups around 5 months with breastmilk in them. Now sometimes I give him water, sometimes milk, but he never gets very much because he's still figuring it out. Right now he would prefer to be left alone to gnaw on the bottom of the cup :-)

We are doing BLW but I think mine is a weirdo. He is obsessed with food. Like, I worry about him eating TOO much and dropping nursing too soon. With BLW they are supposed to decide how much to eat, but I usually end up stopping giving him food because he just crushes it all..
He loves peanut butter (ate a whole piece of bread & pb today plus veggies and fruit ), fruit- berries/grapes/Apple, banana/egg/cinnamon pancakes. Really anything. He's never refused any food I've put in front of him and he clears his tray every meal.
I started doing all three meals in the last couple of weeks. Can you try giving your DD finger foods to see if she likes them more? Maybe mashed banana/avocado to start with if you are worried about the gagging? Oh! L loves cream cheese too- you could try that for more calories?
Umm we've been giving L a straw and/or sippy for the last month or so and he hasn't figured it out yet. I keep offering and fugue he will figure it out at some point. He pauses and puts it in his mouth like he knows that is what he is supposed to do (I drink from a straw cup so he sees me do that all day), but he hasn't figured out actually sucking and creating suction yet.

You can introduce a sippy cup now. DS1 wasn't a big eater until after a few months of solids. Food was very much for play with a few nibbles here and there. No biggies.
I introduced straw cups around 7 months (with water)...he had zero interest in them until around 10 months, and didn't get the hang of actually drinking a significant amount from them until shortly before his first birthday.
At 6.5 months, we'd been doing purees for a month so I think he was getting an ounce a day. Maybe two on a really good day.

My DD is the same age as yours almost exactly, the only solids she likes are rice cereal and banana. She will eat a ton of those but on days we do other solids she barely eats one spoonful.
I started water in the sippy cup about 3 weeks ago. Not sure if she actually drinks any water but she likes sucking on it.

Once again, the bday twins are doing the exact same thing, so ditto!!I've been practicing with a straw and giving him a look water that way because I'm too lazy to wash the straw cup. I've been dropping a little water from the straw into his mouth. It still hasn't clicked but he's close.
DD nursed (and still does) about as much as yours. She's 9 months now. We did BLW and basically just gave her anything, and she'll really eat anything. She's big into solids now, although it did take about a month for her to really start eating very much.
We started a straw cup at 6 months when we started solids, and it only took her about a week or so to get it. I would hold water in the straw with my finger, and put the other end in her mouth. When she would start to suck on the straw I would feel it on my finger, so then I'd let go and she got the water. She learned pretty quickly that if she sucked she got water. Then we put the straw back in the cup and she got it.
