We took DS to a walk-in pediatrician's office (note: not our pedi) two weeks ago. Thought he had a possible ear infection, but turned out it was just the seasonal crud and teething. Nurse practitioner said to give him alternate doses of iburofen and acetaminophen. He's doing better, all around, but still congested and no teeth.
The last few nights he's gone to bed quickly, but then wakes up within an hour or two and nothing will really comfort him. I've reluctantly given him ibuprofen for the past few nights. I hate giving him medicine and I'm afraid this is creating a bad habit. But, at the same time, he's probably hurting and I know he's tired. Any alternatives or recommendations?
We gave infant advil freely whenever he seemed to be in pain from teething. I tried to not give it more than four or five nights in a row, but it helped so if he was hurting, he got advil. I didnt really give it duirng the day so I Felt ok doing it at night to help him sleep,
I just gave it at night about 20 minutes before bed. If I gave it to her before bed, she wouldn't wake up from teething (or at least wouldn't deviate from her normal wake up schedule) and wouldn't need it overnight. I figured that was better than her being up half the night in pain or waking constantly.

I also give DS ibuprofen before bedtime and usually that helps him not wake up in the middle of the night. I think I usually end up giving for 4nights in a row just in case.
