DS has mastered the art of the crawl. What all did you baby proof? Did you plug every socket, tie up every string and nail every table, shelf, or TV to the wall? DH thinks I am extreme in what all I want to baby proof but at the same time, I don't feel like this is something you can be "too careful" about.
1) What were the things you baby proofed right away? 2) Was there anything you waited until later (ie: walking) to BP? 3) Is there anything that you BPed that, in retrospect, you'd think, "meh, not as important"?
Also, what is you recommendation for stair-friendly baby gates that do not require a wall or drilling into banisters to operate? (We have 3 access points we will want gated, two are banister spindles - not the block portion - on each side and one would be the block portion of the spindle and a wall).

I was told four things are super important:
Bolting furniture to walls (we do life in SoCal, so it's kind of a must anyway) Pool fence Gates at top and bottom of stairs Locks on cabinets with chemicals
Everything else on an as needed basis. I figure she gets to explore and learn boundaries without having every.damn.thing locked up. I never did anything special with the glass coffee table and she only hurt herself once on it. #breezy
We have spindles too but ended up putting the stair gate across our living room door instead. We've nothing at the top at the moment.
Sockets are plugged. Curtain cords are made safe. Chemical press made safe. Corners of fire place are covered with rubber. One drawer is baby proofed, to prevent caught fingers rather than the contents!
We have a fairly open concept house, so we gates rooms and went extreme in baby proofing those rooms. Eventually we'll get cabinet locks and such for when she's a little older, but having designated areas for DD is working right now.

all we did was put up baby gates (though, really, those were more to keep the dogs up or downstairs) and put latches on the cabinets with chemicals (which for us was really unnecessary anyway as our DD didn't even show the tiniest bit of interest in them).
