DD started telling us last night that her head was hurting, but it didn't seem to be too big of a deal because she was otherwise in a good mood, acting normal, eating, etc. Then she woke up last night with a fever of 103 and still saying her head hurt. We gave her some Tylenol to help with the headache so she could go back to sleep. Since waking up this morning, her fever is back up and she is intermittently complaining about her head. No other symptoms.
What could this be? I immediately flashed to meningitis, but she doesn't have any of the other symptoms. Plus, the info about meningitis says it is an extremely severe headache. DD's doesn't seem that bad -- she is not crying/complaining constantly, seemed to be resting comfortably on the couch to watch Dora for awhile, and is occasionally perking up to laugh or what have you.
It is also probably not roseola, as she already had that and I believe its one of those things you just get once.
Anyone else's LO had something like this? Normally I am pretty even keeled when it comes to illnesses/fevers, but it freaks me out when there's no obvious reason for the fever.
Sometimes kids just get a virus that spikes a fever. When life is good to you, it's the only symptom and it goes away in about 24 hours. Every now and then, same thing happens to me as an adult.

Thank you all for the reassurance. DD just woke up from her nap, and it appears her fever went down significantly (although she still has a bit of one) -- so it looks like she might indeed have this 24-hour mystery fever virus.
Dd who is 4 had the exact same thing on Friday. We took her to the doctor. They told us to observe. She was fine after that. Where do you live? Just wanted to check if this is a local virus strain. I am in California
add me to the CA club, C had a fever all day yesterday and would cry if I laid him down (so assuming his head hurt since he can't articulate that to me).
