Sounds good to me! Another great central pub is The Lady Ottoline, just a few blocks from Russell Sq or Holborn (and 2 blocks from my flat heh). But I'm up for The Albany as I've never been and I love trying new pubs.
I'm cool if people bring other people (husbands or kids or whatever).
RockNVoll, I don't mind going to Ping Pong. It's a chain but I've heard it's decent. If you're attempting Oxford St on a Saturday, I'd advise getting there the minute the shops open. By noon the crowds get unbearable and you need your pointiest elbow jabs to survive.
Where is easy to get to for you guys? I live quite centrally, so anything's good for me. Since you are both fairly new to the city, I'm happy to recommend somewhere if we can narrow down the area. Is there somewhere you'd like to go that you haven't been to yet? Southbank? Shoreditch? Notting Hill? Bloomsbury? I definitely do NOT recommend the pseudo-Canadian Maple Leaf pub in Covent Garden lol.
Sorry, I SUCK. I completely forgot. I have to go visit the evil in-laws. I'm SO SORRY!
Oxford Street will be a madhouse. May God have mercy on your soul.
LOL, are you guys all saying this because it's close to Christmas time? Or is every Saturday nuts? If it's the latter, eh, I'm not going to avoid it forever. Or maybe I'll look at going on Sunday if that's any better?
Sorry you can't make it anymore, brainie. And maybe it's us that should be saying a prayer for you re: ILs
I was there in February; it is always a madhouse.
Take an umbrella. This can be used to identify people from afar (holding it up over your head, you can see where your friends are) or for whacking purposes.
I'm sad too. But the in-laws serve wine, so I shall be happily inebriated for most of the visit. January will be fun!
