So, I'm 35 (29 for the 6th time). I've had a tubal ligation (a few years ago).
Since being in my 30's (or repeated 29's if you will) my periods have been a lot heavier and clot-ier.
Over that last few month something else has been happening.
I'll have 4-ish days of bleeding (two really heavy, the rest pretty light), but then I'll have like weird spotting for like a week and a half or two weeks. It's pretty sporatic, I can't "track" it per se.

I had a period that changed in heaviness for 5 months. It was due to fibroids. They tried giving me massive amounts of BCP to shrink them first, but wound up having to do surgery.
I wonder if it might be a side effect of your tubal? I know a lot of women experience major changes in bleeding. As pain-in-the-assy as it is to go get it checked out, go get it checked out. Peace of mind and vagina and underwear and all that jazz.
And my flameful is that I haven't seen my gyn or had a well woman appt since my tubal (4-ish year? I can't remember honestly). I'm rather embarrased at all the weight I've gained.

GO! I was actually coming on the board to find the randoms and bitch about mine, but I'll put it here since it is similar to yours.
39 next week. tubal 2 1/2 years ago. mine are very heavy anymore. and now they are like 22 days apart. WTF. AND, my last one was 17 days ago, it lasted TEN DAYS. the last few days were spotting, BUT STILL. AND NOW I HAVE IT AGAIN. it's only been 17 fucking days.
I did have an appt in August. Dr had an emergency surgery to do. Fine. She needed to do that I don't hold it against her and I rescheduled with her. Well, I had to rescheudle the Sept one b/c I had my period and it was heavy and DH was out of town and didn't have a sitter at 7:30 AM. Now it isn't until the end of October. I'm going to tell her she has to FIX ME.
ok, so I am offering sympathy and telling you to go to the dr.
My co-workers and I were just talking about this yesterday. I was bitching about how my first post-partum period hit me this weekend with a vengeance. It sucked. Two of the girls have had tubes tied, and they mentioned their periods are now much, much heavier.
I have a very similar issue and I had a tubal done in 2012. They've done an u/s and a colposcopy and nothing's wrong. So now I get to have an ablation, yay! (No, really, yay, I'm pretty pumped for it).

I'm actually hoping that they'll allow me to get one too, I figured it'd stop whatever is I have going on.

Is this normal?
Don't tell me to see my doctor - I don't wanna.
That is me to a tee. I'm 45 and it's happening to me. I get a period, then spotting, more spotting and then a period. And my period sucks - more pain than before, heavier & clotty. My doc hasn't been able to find anything wrong. I think it's perimenopause.
I am 41 and my periods have gotten heavier with lots of clots. I have not had anything done to prevent pregancy and have not been on birth control since 2006. I think I am falling apart.
