I'm impressed with all you've done since getting there, but would expect nothing less from you. I hope you find a great apartment soon so you can feel a bit more at home. Glad to hear that you've been able to keep in touch with your DH via skype, I'm sure it's not an easy transition.
Like SCM said we've had gross rainy weather here the last few days and will continue into the weekend.
Hi. I am so glad that you got there safe and sound and that you are getting settled in. We miss you tons already!!!!!!
It is blah and gross here. You do not want a picture of this. It is supposed to be nice this weekend. I think we will take Elijah to a pumpkin patch. I will take pictures for you if the leaves are pretty.
So glad you and W are able to Facetime. I bet it is so hard being away from him. I admire your strength!
Yay! So glad you're settling in well and getting to know the area. Once the weather gets nicer I'm sure you'll be inundated with fall foliage photos from us.
Pictures look OK but it was tiny and on the 5th floor with no elevator.
Holy jeebus that's a lot of money. And it looks tiny in the pics! The outside is adorable and exactly what I would expect for London.
Glad to hear you're settling in! Ditto to everyone else that the weather here has been dreary. I'm hoping this weekend will be better, FI and I are headed out apple picking.
How's the eating been? Did you find some good places in Chinatown? Is it true that some bigger grocery stores have "american" sections with sugary cereals and Kraft mac and cheese?
Hi, friend! I'm glad you are still checking in with us and that you are doing well in London. I look forward to hearing more about your experiences there.
I just read an article in the NYT this week about the crazy high apartment prices in London and how people are living in houseboats but the canals are overcrowded with them.
Good luck on the apt search. How long do you get to stay in corporate housing?
Ha, maybe I did swap weather with you guys, LOL. I'm greedy like that and have to say I'm pretty grateful for being eased into the transition weather-wise.
I'm actually leaving in a few minutes to go see my first apartment. I think it's technically in Belgravia or Pimlico maybe, scm1011. Not sure, I'll figure it out if I like the place Also, tagging you reminded me of another random thing I have to get used to, the different keyboard. The @ and " keys are switched which is super annoying and the enter and left shift keys are smaller than normal so I'm having to adjust my learned typing habits.
rikki, I'd love a pic of E at the pumpkin patch, pretty leaves or not. He'll look adorable with all those big pumpkins
I'm hoping to go do a touristy outing or two this weekend instead of just running errands but we'll see. The Tower of London apparently has this amazing glass poppy display currently (like, hundreds of thousands) to commemorate WWI victims. I was told they're selling the poppies at the end of the installation (which is coming up soon) and donating the proceeds to charity.
Oh, that sounds awesome! Post some pics if you go! The Tower of London was my favorite thing that we did when we went to London. The beefeater who did our tour was SO funny, it was awesome! It is a really cool place and it was even more interesting when they explained all the history. I also of course loved the crown jewels. I kept going back on the conveyor belt to see the like 200 carat diamond scepter. That thing was crazy!
I'm glad you are enjoying your time. You have done so much in only 4 days! Good luck apt hunting! I loved London so much, I think it is one of the few places I'd actually daydream of moving to. That and Hawaii.
