Can anyone recommend a career/life coach? I've been thinking about consulting one for a while now but I'm afraid of getting stuck with someone who isn't good (I had to go through several therapists before I found a good one so now I'm always afraid of wasting time and money). I feel like I need someone to sit down with me and help me figure out where the heck I am going and help me sort through my hundreds of interests.
Does your alma mater offer any career counseling for alumni? I would start there. Most of the private/for hire career/life coaches I've met have few if any credentials. I would be sure to do a lot of due diligence before paying one.
I agree with PP. I'm not blown away with my University's career services, but I've seen "life coach certification" for $99 on Groupon. I'd be very careful and check references of anyone you come across.
Maybe if you put some of your interests out here, we can help?
I can't speak to her coaching specifically, but I met her in a community service capacity through a museum I worked at. She's very intelligent, committed, and warm.
Are you looking at a big shakeup, or just something different in your current field? My BFF is an attorney and found a career consultant who works mostly with attorneys to see if they want to change their area of practice. You could check with a local (or national) professional association for a referral, if there is one.
