I want to make a mold if A's hand print. I think when we were kids we used saw dust. Has anybody successfully made one of these using something more accessible (and inexpensive)?

I've done these as gifts for our parents, and we bought kits. I would reccomend the type that is more like clay that you roll out and then bake at a low temp. I've done the plaster one too, and it's more complicated to work with and begins to set quickly so it sucks if the child scrunches up their hand, whereas with the clay version, if it gets messed up, you just reroll it and try again. We found ones where it had a frame where you could put a photo on one side and the baked clay handprint on the other. I would think any craft store or craft department would have them.

Walmart sells a kit in the baby isle. Its in a silver heart shaped container. I received one at my shower.... total fail. I hope you have more luck than I did. I know Micheal's sells something similar. You can probably look up recipes on Pinterest to make your own.
