My RIF was cancelled!

So the good news is that I definitely keep my job. The crappy thing is that the bastards waited until the afternoon of the day the board was supposed to be meeting to tell us this. Ten months of worrying for nothing. And I'm scared that we will go through it all again in 2 years or so when they change their minds again.

The entire AF is messed up in regards to personnel issues. :-( They truly seem clueless. "We need to keep pilots, give them all $250,000 bonuses to stay! Oh Lordy, we got too many pilots, CUT CUT CUT!!!! OMG, not enough pilots, make them stay against their will!" and so on, and so on.

Disclaimer: I'm not a pilot. But my career field is the same crap except throw in student loan repayment enticements because we aren't all USAFA grads.

I know, right? DH would pay to be a pilot. The Navy disqualified him during OCS. In his new section there is no such thing as bonuses. None. Ever.

Yeah, H only got in on the last 2/3 of that. A $250K bonus would be nice! maybe we have some hope with the airline pilots retiring, lol

They've given me two bonuses - ironically both bonuses were followed by RIFs within a year or two. Even worse, this year they were still letting people sign for and receive bonuses WHILE they were getting cut by the Force Shaping Board. And they can't figure out why people don't trust the personnel system?!?
