I think this is a reasonable approach. Then do a full-blown 30 days once a year.
I also think figuring out your day-to-day approach is important and takes time. But if you work well with structure and rules, put some in place for yourself. For me, I don't like to eat out more than a couple times per month. I know that I can't do more dairy than once a week. Things like that. Your mileage may vary.
Also, try to stick to the meal plan for most of your meals, even if they're not 100% compliant (http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf).Start with ample protein, fat, and lots of veggies. And eat enough that you can make it to your next meal.
How do you handle a dinner invitation to a friends house? We got invited to a friend's house for dinner tonight, and she asked if we had any dietary restrictions. I was all "Uhhhh..." I don't want her to make a menu around me.

If it was an acquaintance, I'd probably ask if I could just bring a plate for myself.

That makes sense. I've been asked my family or friends "What can I make you that you'll eat?" and if they are that adamant about it, I'll provide them a handful of recipes that would work. That's not my first line of defense because that would be pretty pushy, but if they really want to cook for me, I find that helping them out with some specific things is usually well received.
Day 26. I can't believe how fast this has one by. I'm definitely not stopped at 30 days. It's been really easy to stick to so if I can stick with it 90% if the time and continue to lose weight I'll so that afterwards. Especially during the holidays.

If you are doing a lot of cooking over the holidays, there are TONS of paleoish holiday recipes out there for all your favorites.
Thanks. I'm sure there are! My H has celiac so I've been doing a gluten free thanksgiving for years anyway. I mean I'll want to indulge in pie and buttery potatoes and sugary homemade cranberry sauce. But only for one day. Not for that day and a week afterwards. Lol. No pumpkin pie for breakfast.
i need something...i don't know, comforting? easily digestible? for day one/two of my period. i have a suuuuuper upset stomach all day and nothing really sits right. this morning i just ended up having some buttered toast, which isn't a big deal, but it can be a slippery slope for me. toast this morning can lead to cinnamon rolls tomorrow. and i will probably have my old nausea cure for dinner (mcdonalds cheeseburger w ketchup only and a diet coke.) i would just like to find paleo/whole 30 meals that could keep me away from fast food.
comfort noodles do not work because of the egg texture. i have little appetite and texture issues during this time.
eta: i finished whole 30 almost a month ago and have been eating paleo since then.

When I am nauseous, I usually eat mashed sweet potato or GF crackers. The crackers are obviously not compliant, but they work for me.
