Hi! Not sure if you remember me - I posted occassionally in the old place and came over with the exodus. Just made an account today though. End lurker confession.
My baby girl is 2 weeks old and I've been exclusively breast feeding on demand. Last week she was just shy of birth weight so I will be bringing her in for a weight check this afternoon. She's peeing and pooping fine so I'm not concerned.
My question is regarding frequency. Should I be trying to push her to a 3 hour schedule at this point? She sometimes seems frustrated and tugs away which makes me think my supply isn't great and (this might be stupid) I wonder if because she eats at such irregular intervals that maybe my body hasnt had a chance to replenish in between? Or doesn't always have the milk ready when she wants to eat?
When she tugs I switch sides and flip back and forth I needed until she is full. Advice?? Thank you!!

Not frkls, but I didn't want this to get buried. At two weeks I think it is completely normal for them to have an erratic schedule. Just keep feeding when she's hungry. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about a schedule for several more weeks. Your supply is still getting regulated and feeding her every 1-3 hours is totally fine and completely normal.
I think the switch and flip is also fine. I did a lot of that in the beginning. Once your supply is really well established your boobs will have a better feel for how much milk to make for each feeding.
Hopefully frkls will have some good advice for you. I think it sounds like you are doing a good job. Hang in there!
Forget about schedule and supply. Just feed her whenever she seems fussy, for as long as she wants. Seriously, your boobs and your baby know what they are doing, just trust them.
Thank you thank you! And merci papie I never considered that it might be an over supply. I'll keep up with the nursing on demand. She had some really good sessions today!
