I only get them for special occassions. I do get them polished and they will last about 6 days with minimal chipping. For perspective I have a 16 month old and am constantly washing my hands and it still lasts almost a week.
I try and get mine done every two weeks or so. I always have them painted. I don't expect the polish to last more than a week.
Does your fingernail polish really last for a whole week without chipping? This is amazing to me.
Generally, it lasts six days. (Of course there are exceptions.) I keep my nails really short and usually get a nude pinky color. So maybe it starts to "rub off" at the tips and I just don't notice unless they're a color? Truly no chips though - those I can feel and it bugs me.
To be fair - I'm not hard on my hands. We have a cleaning service, so no hard cleaning or scrubbing; no kids or affiliated daily chores with them. H takes care of his own junk. So I'm most likely to chip when digging in my purse for something. (Or when I need them to last for an event. They're guaranteed to chip while I'm sleeping in those cases.)
I really have no idea. I've gotten two manicures in my life because I work in a chemistry lab, so the polish would never last here. I just feel like I would chip my nail polish on stupid stuff like changing the radio station or something.

What about no chip? They're amazing. The worst part IMO is the grow-out. Mine start to look iffy in a week because my nails grow so fast. But again, I get a neutral color so I go almost three weeks before having them remove it. I got red once and did love it, but the growth looked bad after a week on me.

Just looked up what no chip is. The manicures look great, but the nail damage kind of freaks me out. Kind of like the old acrylic nails my mom used to get.

My nails had no damage after the no-chip. I resisted it for a long time for the same reasons as you, but I really don't have any damage to my real nails. (And mine aren't particularly resilient.) I just have the manicure place take them off - I know I'm not patient enough to keep my fingers soaking in acetone for 20 minutes at home - it's $7 on top of the reg manicure at my place (free if you're getting another no-chip).
