Blb gets patches of dry skin or eczema from time to time. It was really bad this week and for the first time ever she scratched it and made those awful marks. I slathered her in aquafor like I normally do and put some cortisone cream on the really bad part on top. Overnight the patches went away but the spots showed up. They don't seem to bother her and are only on her back.
Could it be a reaction to the cortisone? From the picture it kind of looks like the bumps J gets when she has dairy. They don't bother her either and they go away on their own.
Is that where she scratched herself? My daughter gets eczema pretty bad periodically and had something that looked similar on her neck. It was gone in 3-4 days. We just do the aquafor, Vaseline and cortisone cream as well. I'd keep doing what you are doing and try to keep her from scratching and hope it goes away in about 4 days. If not I'd probably go in to doctor.

I'm not sure about the rash, but I hope it goes away on its own.
When G is really itchy, her pedi suggested a dose of Benadryl right before bed so she wouldn't scratch herself up MOTN. It also helps make her sleepy so that was a nice benefit while it lasted. We gave it to her for nearly a month to break the cycle and help her heal from a really bad eczema flare up that lasted pretty much all summer. It worked well to combat the itching.
Poor baby girl. Have you thought about monitoring her diet? I fully believe that eczema (and colic) are over diagnosed and food sensitivities are under diagnosed. I would keep letting her eat (as normal) but log her food. When you see the flare up two more times, look for a correlation.
In the meantime, just treat with what you got to relieve itching.

I agree with you and think it's a diary issue. She doesn't drink cow milk but does have cheese and yogurt which has never seemed to bother her much. But with this bad flare up I cut out all dairy.

Totally believe this. I'm not sure I believe colic at all. I think the babies don't feel good for some reason
It's really weird. Cutting dairy made the typical patchy excezma go away but those little spots are still there. They look like tiny white head pimples. She never had that before. It's getting better though.
