So the wedding I was supposed to go to in New Orleans this weekend but couldn't because our sitter fell through? Yeah, H was IN the wedding. I am just finding out about this now. 2 hours after he got home.
It was fairly low key as it was a second wedding and friends of the groom are scattered far and wide so there wasn't a bachelor party. But WTF? Then he's like, 'well I just found out when I got there.' What the hell is up with these people?! They are lovely, sweet guys but how fucking weird is that?
I. Guess he told them that he would take care of the suits and got their measurements and it never occurred to H that he would be IN THE WEDDING. I can't decide who is weirder here. Friend for not outright asking 'do you want to be a groomsman' or h not giving it a second thought that friend was 'taking care of the suit' and asking for measurements.
Gotta be, right? Who else would just go along with having a suit made for him when he got there? "Oh, a new suit custom made for me? Cool. No further questions."
Why do guys not talk to each other? I seriously don't understand it. H will tell me his BFF told him something serious (marital trouble, kid is sick, something like that). I'll ask him about it a few days/week later and he'll be all "oh I don't know. We didn't talk about it."
You talk every day!! What are you guys talking about??
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
H was in a wedding last year and the groom NEVER asked him to be in it. We only knew because the bridal party was listed on their wedding website.
Men.
Did the groom just figure that the guys would just guess they were in the wedding? I mean, at some point they need to talk, right? At least to get the right tuxes/suits.

I have no idea what he was thinking. He did eventually ask H to order a tux a month or so before the wedding but had we not seen the wedding website, that would have been the first H knew about being a groomsmen.

H drives me crazy with this shit. He gets NO further information. Ever. They chat online daily. How do you not get more information about major life events???

Dh's bestman, an called like a week before and was like hey can't make it. Dh just assumed his other friend would be the baseman. I had to force him to call and ask!
Me and H didn't know we were in a wedding until showing up. H gave away the bride and had just met her that day. Soooo many LOL over that wedding, I can't even begin to tell you. Most bizarre day ever.
DH asked his groomsmen but then completely failed to identify any of them as the best man. It was decided among them one week before at a Frisbee game which one would do the speech and which one would sign the license. DH was like 'cool'.
I can definitely see this happening to DH. He's been a woefully un-involved groomsman the couple of times he's been asked. He did write a good speech once. I'll give him that.

I HAVE to know more about this! I'm envisioning, "who gives this woman to be married to this man?" ... "Uh, me? I guess? I mean, you seem like a great girl so I guess it's cool if you marry my friend?..."

That is crazy. I think it's weirder on the part of the couple though.
Not as extreme but DH, then boyfriend, didn't know he was going to be a greeter (lol) in my brothers wedding until I was typing up their program for them and saw his name listed. They then said something like "yeah we need to know right away if he is going to do it." Then ask him first!!

In my H's case, it's Fantasy Football and video games.

This happened to my H, too! The bride told me the wedding party when we were out one night, so I came home to ask my H if he knew he was in the wedding party- had no idea. The groom never asked any of the guys- they all just found out randomly, most via the wedding website. So weird!

It was H's uncle's finace from China and we had just met her, errr, that in itself was interesting. Anyway, we show up to the wedding, never have met her, I'm a bridesmaid and H was giving her away. It what she told us when we showed up, as guests. lllol Weirdest wedding experience ever.
