I wacked the crap out of my elbow early this AM and there is a raised area (not bruised) that looks out of place? The pain is manageable but certain movements I cannot do, like putting on my seat belt. Urgent care is open until 9. Do you think urgent care or the ER?
Yes, I fractured my elbow when I was younger. The joint got really hot and swollen (I guess blood was rushing to the injury) and I could not move it at all.
You should definitely get it looked at because even though my break healed I have some minor mobility issues with the joint.
I'd do urgent care. Most have x-rays, and the ER probably can't cast you anyway, so even if it is broken, waiting around at the ER for 180900 hours won't do you much more good than going to UC.
I fell down a flight of steps and landed on my elbow. By the next morning there was a huge lump on it. Went to the hospital and it was fluid. I was in a sling for two weeks or so. I would call and see what they advise.

I did (fell roller skating) and it locked up to the point I had to leave urgent care and go to the ER for pain Meds before they could X-ray it. I had a sling for a few days then was in starting PT within the first week. I have about 98-99% of my original range back.
I hope you just bruised it. If it is broken, don't hesitate to take pain meds. I found it to be very painful the first several days.

Def go in. You will want an X-ray. I hit mine pretty bad on a handicap bar in a shower once, and my doctor wanted an X-ray to make sure there was no fracture
