Hold on, does the invitation tell everyone she got accidentally pregnant but they convinced her to do otherwise? I have so many questions.
The invitation doesn't say she got accidentally pregnant, I believe it says something like "So and So chose life" or some crap like that. I only know her story because a few months ago neighbor told my MIL (who also lives on my street) that she was trying to convivce this woman to keep her child and wanted to know if MIL would bring my DD around to show her how amazing kids are. I was appalled then by the whole thing and also told MIL that there was no way in hell she was bringing my DD to "show off."
I might go off on a tangent but I really, really, am starting to hate the conservative Christians who think they have so much to educate people on. It is really condescending to imply a woman in her lates 30s needs to see how wonderful kids are! Or you know the,Christian Faith, because you have to be living under a rock not to know the premise by now.
No, the invitation is gross but probably effective. That woman and her kid will be taken in by church and she will become one of them.

Holy Fucking Shit Batman.
That was exactly my response. And it cracks me up that it was you that posted it mrsbro
Oh! She also asked MIL the other day if she would be willing to watch the baby, for free, so this woman could work. MIL looked at her like she was nuts and was like um, I watch my granddaughter and have a grandson coming in a few months, I don't think I could handle a third child (aka I don't want to) and neighbor said to her "well I'm sure Lacey can afford DC. Other woman can't." MIL told her that since neighbor homeschools her 2 sons that she could certainly handle watching the new baby. Apparently the woman changed the subject.
That poor woman! All I can think is what if she comes to resent her child because she didn't want to keep it in the first place? This is not good. Not good at all.
Everything you have told us is making my blood boil with rage. WTF!
I can't even blame my feelings on the sugar cookie I had for second breakfast (a decision that usually makes me irrational until my blood sugar levels out again).

I've heard of churches holding pro life baby showers, but the ones I've heard about were not directed at our held for specific people pressure to have and raise a child. They were just drives to collect supplies that would be distributed to mothers and expectant mothers in need.
The woman instigating it all should just adopt the child when it is born. That is what I think all pro-lifers should do instead of convincing someone to keep a child they cannot support themselves. They should also cover all the pregnant womans bills associated with having the baby.

This I am ok with. Its that its for a specific person that I was wtf about. I got the invite in the mailbox yesterday and was confused for a second because this poor woman and I have the same name and I couldn't figure out why a church I don't belong to was throwing me a baby shower lol. Then H was like no, that's for neighbor's friend who can't afford her baby but is being guilted into having it anyway. I'm not sure why she isn't giving this kid up for adoption or why church didn't suggest that, though I guess maybe they could have.

Lol. Maybe, but not in any way that's actually helpful and only if mom toes their fucked up line. Where's the public glory and accolades in making dinner every night for a picky seven year old? Or wiping a 4 year old's snotty nose? And what if mom wants to date ... a divorced guy!
I'm all about supporting the woman who chose life for her baby, but a big ole WTF to announcing to the world that she was on the fence and making it all agenda-y.
I'd give her a generous gift though, bc she needs support.
How disgusting. That poor woman who can't support herself being goaded into having a child that in reality knows she is going to have money issues. I feel for that child as the struggling mom trying to raise a child that she may resent for the next 18 years. I do hope these holier than now women are going to embrace this mother and child for the long haul.
WTF? Y'all know I'm prolife, but I'm not pro humiliation. You don't call out someone's private issues like that. And you don't guilt them into keeping a baby. There is another option here of adoption as well. The baby doesn't have to die and her life isn't ruined
This kind of blithe "Just give the baby up!" attitude, as if lives are not profoundly affected, forever, by that decision, pisses me off almost as much as the original post.

Of course we don't know the whole story, but it would have been better if the lady did change her mind about aborting the baby, that she would of looked into adoption instead of trying to raise it herself.
Edited: I meant to say - since she changed her mind about aborting that she should of looked into adoption.
This is making me so sad for that poor woman. I can't believe that woman asked your MIL for free childcare, certainly there are enough church women involved in this stupid idea, why aren't they offering free childcare? Because that might actually help the mother??
This is reminding me of some photographer blogger who's church convinced this homeless train hopper to not get an abortion. The church took her in and housed her and loved on her and then she had the baby, gave her baby to the photographer and then the church pretty much was all ok thanks bye! And put her back on the train.
Welp, it's not often that I'm convinced I've read the internet's daily most reprehensible thing by 9:30am, but I'm pretty positive that's what just happened. Nothing will too this today.
