When did you start? What foods did you start with? Purees? Blw? We won't start for another month or so, I'm not in any rush, just curious what you all did. Also a funny, my grandma is super worried about H not getting solids yet. She keeps asking when we are going to give him real food because he's going to be hungry! Well my grandpa finally said to her "breast milk is real food and the only real food H needs for the first year, does he look like he's going to starve anytime soon?" Shut my gma up real quick lol.
Purees? Blw? Tried both. He hated food to start with. Also, he got teeth early, so full blown blw made me nervous, as he could bite off more than he could chew (literally). He played with good for a couple months, then around 8 no started eating well.

I started both girls around 5-6 months. With M I did purees and it wasn't bad, they are easy to make and freeze so it worked. With J I tried purees but she got bored after a week and so I started just doing soft chunks and she took right to it. So I think it just depends on the kids as to the method that works best. M's first was bananas and J's first was avocado. No real reasoning to either I believe it was just what I had on hand when I decided to give it a go.
I tried here and there and he wasn't ready. At 5.5 months he started actually eating/playing with food. I did some BLW w/ sweet potato fries and bananas. He liked it, but mostly gnawing on it and throwing stuff on the floor. So, then I did purees, home-made and bought. He preferred purees for several months. I think the solids were just too hard for him. Also, there was a month or so, probably around 7 months, where he was teething and refused solids 99% of the time.
I started w/ just offering solids here and there. Once he got the hang of it, we did dinner each night. later added breakfast, later added lunch. Slowly switched to more and more real food v. baby food, including snacks, etc. By 12 months, he was eating pretty much all table food, no purees.
we started a little after 6 months with BLW. first food was bananas i think. jeez. i have no idea. poor second baby. maybe avocado? broccoli? peas? something along those lines. he didn't take to it at first, but now he demaaannnnds food. if he sees it, he must have it.
We did BLW at 6 months partly bc G wouldn't let anyone put anything in her mouth. She loved it at first but then was only occasionally interested after the novelty wore off. She started being more regularly interested around 8-9 months. That said, she was a super slow eater didn't eat much solid food (quantity-wise) until ~13-14 months old when her first molars started to come in.
When did you start? 4 mo What foods did you start with? peas/green beans Purees? Blw? mostly purees. the babies did suck on some thigns that they reached for too.
they would stare at us eating, so we started at 4mo. it was the best idea. they now love food and mostly fruit and veggies. i'm happy i watched for their interest!
