If you EBF, when did you cut out motn pumping sessions?
G is sttn more often than not, but I still get up to pump. It's my best session of the day, typically, and is how I have enough BM to send to daycare each day plus add to my freezer stash. But sleeping in more than 4 hour stretches at night sounds glorious.
Will his BM consumption go down after 6 months when we start introducing solids?

I never did them. If my kid is sleeping, he doesn't need to eat, so I don't need to pump. I might be engorged a tiny bit if he sleeps longer than usual, but if I can sleep, I'm sleeping.
I would suspect your first morning pump would be awesome if you skip the MOTN.
This was H's argument and I told him he was wrong. Lol Perhaps he knows more than I gave him credit for. He's advocating for me to drop the motn session and sleep. Hmmm.
Can you pump right before you go to bed instead? Once DS started sttn, I would pump about 9 or 9:30 at night while I watched tv or relaxed before bed. I got a few extra ounces that way.

I usually do a dream feed when I go to bed and he usually eats pretty well. H also thinks I should drop that and see if he continues to sttn.
I started skipping MOTN pumping last week and my first morning pump is not nearly as much milk in the same amount of time. i can pump for 5 minutes MOTN and get what i need. 10-15 minutes first thing yields less. DS is almost 12 weeks old.
With DD, I think I stopped motn pumping around 4 or 5 months, but eventually, I added a 10pm session. She did not drink less as a result of solids.
I never did. But my child never STTN. So every change I can get some more sleep, I'd take it. When she went longer stretch at nigh I pumped before I went to bed.
I don't pump in the MOTN. L sleeps for 4-5 hour stretches most nights, very seldom longer than that. I only pump 3 times at work. I nurse before we leave in the morning and on demand in the evenings/overnight. So far I've had the 16 oz I send with him each day. Some days I have extra to add to my freezer stash, some days its exactly what I've needed.
My kid didn't STTN, but occasionally I would pump when my husband got home from work at 1am and I hated it. Take your sleep where you can get it. Sleep increased my supply more in the morning than I got from pumping in the middle of the night.
I never did, either. I did pump before I went to bed, though (which I HATED!!)
If his weight gain is good, you might want to try dropping the dream feed some Friday night. If he wakes up at 2AM, you'll know he still needs it. Neither of my boys ever dream fed.
I've never pumped MOTN. She is consistently sleeping ~8 hour stretches at night these days (+ or - 2 hours), and I definitely get a higher output when I pump in the morning if she doesn't wake to eat very often. It's sometimes uncomfortable, but I'd rather sleep!
Why not try dropping the MOTN pumping session and see what happens? If your supply tanks you can always pick it up again. But really, there's nothing more frustrating than unnecessarily being awake when the baby is asleep!

I do not routinely pump MOTN. If baby is sleeping hopefully I am sleeping. If there are weird circumstances and I wake up painfully engorged I might use a hand pump for a little relief. Typically though I will just wait for the baby to wake up and nurse.
I was pumping on one side while feeding on the other motn, until ds sleep went to crap and I was feeding more than 2x a night. We are still working in the sleeping, so I haven't gone back to motn pumping.
I only did it for a short time. DD started STTN on and off around 4 months, and I would wake up soaked from leaking because I would get so engorged so I would need to pump off a few ounces to get back to sleep. Once I stopped waking up I didn't worry about it.
I only pumped in the MOTN when D was in the NICU. And he still doesn't STTN.
You just made me feel better. Spoke to my friend with a 2.5 year old and an 11 month old who basically shamed me for my 1 year old not STTN and not being flexible about his bedtime.

He gets up almost religiously at 3 am to nurse for about 15 minutes. I figure at this rate, he'll be nursing until kindergarten.
