Denver/Pit Bull Question

I've heard that you can travel through Denver just fine with a pit but they do not like you walking around the city with the dog. I don't own a pit, but a friend does and she has no issue stopping to get gas or anything. Maybe for the dog show there is some sort of clause or non-issue since it's more of a professional thing. It could have also been in more of a suburb rather than the city proper. I know some of the suburbs do not have that legislation.
It seems to be more certain people than the whole city. It's the same way where I live south of Denver. It really seems to be more of a select group of people rather than the whole city. It's weird.

I'm pretty sure he had to get special permission to be there for the competition.
