I called her a little while ago to tell her how hurt I was by her comment, and she told me that I took it the wrong way and I shouldn't change anything if I'm comfortable with how it looks but it was just a suggestion.
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
My ex-H and I were talking about plastic surgery years ago in a joking yet kind of serious "if I ever win the lottery" way. I said I'd want lipo and a boob job. He said "you wouldn't want to fix that bump on your nose?".
Yes. Same damn thing. I had no idea I had a bump on my nose. How often are you staring at your profile??? Asshole.
You're not being too sensitive. This was years ago and now I think about the bump on my nose in pictures.

OMG, that is even worse. I'M glad to see he is your X-H.
That was an a-hole comment. A mother is never supposed to knock her kid down like that. Sh*tty.
This, 100%. I don't care what other people have to say about how I look, but the handful of critical things from my mom over the years have stuck with me.
I'm sorry that she said that. I don't know what you look like, but it doesn't matter. That was seriously uncool of your mom.
Your mom is just a pig. I know I annoy people here with my 'perfect children' stories, but damn. My kids are incredible, I would not change a thing. I'm SUPPOSED to think that, and I'm damn sure supposed to SAY that. I can't imagine criticizing my children's looks, or a particular feature. Or 'joking' about that in front of others. If she does not care about hurting your feelings, surely you think she'd care how she appears to others.
A couple years ago my sister was going to FL for a work seminar and was excited to make it a mini vacation. My mom told her that she should lose about 15 pounds before she considered going. She's hypercritical of us all the time. I was hoping I would be a little less sensitive about this sort of thing by now.
I'm sorry! My dad can be a little like this - constantly makes comments about weight and food. I'm glad you told her how you felt, too bad she couldn't manage an actual apology.
