The British boy alleged to have become a dad at age 12 is not the baby’s father, a British newspaper reports.
Alfie Patten was believed to be Britain’s youngest father after his 15-year-old girlfriend, Chantelle Steadman, gave birth to baby girl Maisie. But then many other boys claimed they also slept with the mother, who had previously said that Alfie was the only boy she had slept with. As a result, Alfie took a DNA test, which indicated that he’s not the father.
The Mirror reports:
The result will be a blow to Alfie who was “devastated” by the boys’ claims and “adored” Maisie. He was convinced he was the dad after a single night of unprotected sex with Chantelle. Before he took the test, he said: “I didn’t know about DNA tests before but mum explained it’s when they do a swab in your mouth and it tells if you’re the dad. So if I have it, they can all shut up.” His mum Nicole, 43, added at the time: “It had not even crossed Alfie’s mind whether Chantelle had not been faithful to him. He’s absolutely devastated that these lads say they slept with her.” What do you think should be the next step in this story that just keeps getting sadder and sadder? Should they give DNA tests to all the boys or just sign Alfie up for the position because he has made it clear that he wants to be the dad? We can only hope that baby Maisie gets the love and care she deserves.
Does a 12 year old boy really understand what he's signing up for to be a father? I feel bad for the whole group involved in this story, especially the baby.
"or just sign Alfie up for the position because he has made it clear that he wants to be the dad?" We can only hope that baby Maisie gets the love and care she deserves.
This has to be British dry wit right? NO he should not sign up for the position b/c at 12 he wants to.
Heaven forbid this story be told without slut shaming the 15 year old mother.
you know what? i was thinking that if a 15 yo is uncertain who the father of her kid is b/c there are too many options, she needs jesus
And I think in florida it would be a sex crime based on their ages. I could be wrong but I don't want to google Sex crimes on my work iPad. I know this case isn't in florida but my issue isn't with the fact that she slept with a lot of people...but the age.
I think it's clear that this girl has issues that go back long long before she started having sex with anyone. Whether she had slept only with this boy or not, there's a obvious parenting fail here.

If the mom were twelve and the dad were 15, I think people would be crying for the boy to go to jail. Seriously, what high school student is trolling sixth grade classrooms for sexual partners?!
Ok so I'm reading more into this... The 15 year old girl and the 12 year old had been dating 2 years when she got pregnant. So 10 and 13?!?!?
Apparently there were actually eight potential candidates for father of this baby, and the parents allowed her to have boys sleep over in her room.
I cannot understand why this girl and her baby weren't removed from her parents custody a long time ago, because clearly these people are not doing their job as parents.
