I think C has one. I've never had them but my H gets them pretty regularly in the winter. It's just the one spot at the corner of his mouth, and he keeps poking at it with his tongue. I don't see any other spots and he's acting normal so I don't think it's HFM.
Is there anything I should do? Is it any sort of concern because I'm pregnant? Ugh.
If you have never had one yet you are fine. It means you have been exposed, have the virus, but it remains dormant in you. In your husband, and now C, it doesn't stay dormant.
I get cold sores and my doctor said it wasn't a concern while pregnant. She said I could use abreva too.
I'm not sure what you could do for a toddler though, I wouldn't think they could use abreva since they would probably just lick it off. Maybe Tylenol if it's bugging him, they do tend to hurt.
Are you sure it's a cold sore? Is it cracked open? I don't get cold sores but the corner of my mouth cracks open every once in a blue moon. It happens sometimes when I'm stopped up and have been sleeping with my mouth open and drool collects there. I have to use a bit of neosporin, athletes foot cream and hydrocortisone mixed together to get rid of it.
Put a tea bag on it, seruously. I get them all the time and at the first sign of them I brew a cup if black tea, and out the tea bag after its brewed on it for a few min. It helps make it go away faster
Cold sores are actually the second symptom of the herpes virus. Look up primary herpetic stomatitis and see if that sounds like something he's had because that would come first.
This is the worst thing ever. Been there done that. The week before the bar exam with DD1. Swollen gums. No rating. Pain fever and more pain. Sucks something awful.

I haven't seen anything like that, but I was away for work all week.
