6 year old DD, recently diagnosed ADHD. Today is her first day on Concerta. To be honest, it's a little unsettling.
Typically she is in constant motion and chattering non stop. She's still pretty talkative, but all the fidgety, bouncy extra energy seems gone. I'm hoping as her body gets used to it she'll get a tiny bit of pep back? We're going to give everything a couple of weeks to see how she is doing. But so far all the behavioral stuff we've been dealing with is gone. Normally Saturdays at home are kinda of crazy because she flits from one thing to another, instigates her brother, fights us on anything and everything. Not today. She helped me clean, we read some books and played and now is resting on the couch with me. Her appetite is poor but they warned us about that and we might have to start giving her the meds after she's eaten breakfast.
Has anyone else had a child on Concerta? Do they adjust after awhile and the side effects lessen? Do you notice a lot of big changes?
Seems good! I haven't had a call from school all week and Wednesday H almost forgot to give her the meds but she reminded him and said she felt like they help her.
