To kill time in evenings until this baby gets here.
I just finished Outlander (and really liked it) and do want to move on to the rest of the series eventually. However, I am super impatient and wiki'd the rest so I know what happens.
you could read the outlander companion books if you already know what happens in the main series. I believe they are all written from Lord John's perspective.
I really like reading Maeve Binchy's books. They're all good that I have read. My MIL loves her, she's an Irish author. ETA: I googled her to give the correct speaking of her name, and she died today.

Well, you can definitely get lost in game of thrones twists. Have you read those?
I like more character based rather than plot based novels, so I don't really have many suggestions. I'm currently rereading On the Road if that tells you how little plot matters
Oh, for some historical stuff, again more character than plot, but you can get lost in it, have you read Moloka'i and Honolulu?

Have you read Time Traveler's Wife? It's excellent.
The one I'm reading right now is really good but I can't remember the title and its upstairs so I'll edit my post when I go up and get it after dinner. And I'll add a few more

Man, I'm on book 3 of Game of Thrones and I'm obsessed. So good.
I enjoy historical fiction the most. I really liked that history met fantasy (time travel) in Outlander.
I really want to find some books with fantastic plots that I can get lost in for the next few weeks.
If you like history meets fantasy, check out A Discovery of Witches. It is the first book in the All Souls series. I just finished the second book and had a hard time putting them both down. The third book comes out next year. They are written by a history professor. They contain a ton of historical characters, alchemy, science and fantasy. I wanted to jump into the book and stay there. Loved them.

So the one I'm reading that I couldn't remember the name of last night is The Legacy by Katherine Webb. I love it. It's about one family and a family secret and is told from two different prospectives until the stories start to cross.
