When did your toddler give up naps? DS is 28 months old (3yo at end of Feb) and I am currently listening to him refuse the 3rd nap out of the last 5 days. He cries and says "all done sleep!" until I give up. Is he giving up naps or is this a phase? He's always dropped naps late, he napped 3x a day from 4-10m and 2x a day from 10-18m. So I thought he's continue with 1 nap past 3 at least. But what the hell child, GTFTS! I know you're tired!
Mine started the no nap thing about this age. However we still have required in your room time because she'll go in streaks where she won't nap everyday for 2 weeks then take a nap for 6 months straight again. Sometimes naps are only an hour and the next they're 3 hours. She has a fairly late bedtime though so she needs some sort of downtime anyways.
DC also has lay on the cot and sleep or watch TV time so I don't what to get her out of that habit either.

My 3.5 year old still takes a 2 hour nap everyday. On the off days when she can't fall asleep, she reads in her room for at least an hour. I need my space!
DS is still in his crib, so I don't want to do quiet time with toys/books in his crib b/c then he won't nap FOR SURE. Maybe keep on pushing naps until we transition to a toddler bed?

We do books in crib and it helps DS sleep. He will read for 30 minutes and then nap for 1.5 hours. It actually increases total nap time. He's 25 months.

DD sometimes gets distracted by the toys/books in her crib, but I keep them in there because it buys me a valuable amount of quiet time when she wakes up in the morning. Yesterday and today she was walking around, playing, turning the light on and off, etc rather than sleeping, so I used the intercom function on the monitor and told her to lay down and sleep. It worked, miraculously!

DD had a lot of nap strikes between 2.5 and 3. Just when I thought she was done, she'd start taking them again. By 3, she was done. I actually prefer her not napping now because bedtime is earlier and easier. Even a 45-min nap now dooms bedtime.

My kid for the most part will fall asleep eventually. I keep it pretty dark. I leave some books and stuffed animals, nothing too exciting.
My child is almost 4 and is currently on hour 2 of a nap today. She naps about 3 or 4 days out of the week. On days she doesnt nap she is in bed early. Dont give up on naps too early. I have found that everytime I think she is done napping... she starts back up again. And usually 2 -3 hour naps.
Can you try moving his nap later? Maybe he is able to stay up longer now and isn't tired yet. Try moving his nap 30 minutes later and see if that helps.
His nap is already pretty late, usually 2-4pm. So unfortunately i don't think later would help. I put him down at 2:15 today for the nap he refused.
Caramini used to nap at 2pm until about 34 mos and then started refusing. We switched her to 3pm and she has been consistently napping since then (she's 39 mos). No guarantees, but switch up the time and see if it helps.
DS1 attempted to drop naps about that time. It didn't last long & he went back to napping. He'll be 4 in Dec and he still naps 2+ hours a day about 95% of the time (& sleeps almost 11 hrs at night).
Our deal is that I set my timer for one hour. If he is quiet and calm (2 VERY big things for him!) for that hour, I'll come check on him. If he's still awake, he can come out. If he's loud of leaves his room, he gets a warning, I add 5 minutes. He is always asleep by the time my timer goes off.

Oh hm. Maybe actually earlier then? Maybe he is too tired.
Does he act tired? What if you did drop the nap but put him to bed a half hour or an hour earlier?
Yeah I'm going to try to get him down earlier, it's hard though. We live in the boonies, a 20-30 min drive from everyplace. He normally wakes at 8:30, by the time we have breakfast and do morning chores we're out the door around 10ish. I have a hard time running an errand (target, grocery store), having lunch, and being home before 1. By the time I put away groceries and do the nap routine, it's usually almost 2pm.
Yes, he acts very tired. Rubbing his eyes, asking to read books, wants his lovey.
Mine dropped it right around 3 years (I took her paci, and that was it). She'll occasionally fall asleep if she's really tired or in the car, but generally we make her rest for an hour, then call it a day.
