Anyway, when do babies start to have a somewhat loose nap routine? 2/3 months? Dd is almost 4 weeks and just within the past week I've been able to do the EASY method during the day, but not really any set times. When does that happen?
My 10 week old just started doing 3 big naps most days last week. The times aren't always the same but close. I'll bet if I actually tracked his naps I'd see they were pretty close every day.
I put M on a schedule at 10 weeks. That doesn't seem to be very popular around here, but he is much more pleasant now that he's getting sufficient sleep. Also, Mama is no longer teetering on the edge of insanity.
6-7 months, and that was really really a rough guideline. I actually never let that dictate our plans or anything. He sort of naturally fell into that rhythm at daycare in the infant room, although they did not schedule it there, they just let it happen whenever he was tired. Now that he's in the toddler room, we TRY to stick to that schedule, and for the most part he's reliably taking 1 nap a day at around noon.
I think he was consistently taking 3 naps a day by around 3.5 months. 2 naps a day a little after 6 months. At 14 months he still takes 2 naps on days he's home. But really baby sleep is like:
DS never took 3 naps a day. He did one late morning and late afternoon until he was about a year and then went to one after lunch. He'd routinely do a 2-5pm nap and be asleep by 8:15.

This is us. Granted, around 2 months, she was taking three naps a day fairly reliably. The times vary a little, but are generally around the same times daily.
