Day 1. And I already have questions.
Have a salad for lunch. Pulled out balsamic vinegar for dressing as I saw that it is on the "approved" vinegar list. But the label says it has 3 grams of sugar. And I can't seem to find any without sugar in it....

What matters is not the grams of sugar, but the ingredients list. Does it list sugar as an ingredient?

Day 8. Started last monday. down 4 pounds last week. I know i'm not supposed to weigh myself everyday but oh well. i also know I won't make it the whole way through b/c DH and I are going out for our anniversary on saturday night. I plan to have that one meal and then do whole 30 again until the following saturday when we're going out with friends. I do plan to eat every meal following whole 30 except for when we go out, which is not often, and for holidays. I figure after the new year i'll be able to really do it for 30 days straight but b/w now and the new year i have annivesary date, night out with friends, fake thanksgiving with DH's family, the real thanksgiving (including visitors for 10 days), DD's birthday, and christmas, so 30 days right now is unrealistic.
I am already kind of suffering, I just can't drink black coffee. I may need to get some coconut milk even though they claim that's cheating.
I convinced my DH to do this with me over the weekend, I think he will struggle with it a bit more than me, he's often tempted at work. But we are both excited for the challenge.
What do you all drink? Just Water? I'm already bored with water.

Day 1 for me tooooo!
Why is putting coconut milk in your coffee cheating? And yes, I mainly drink water. But I did that prior to Whole30 anyway. I know a lot of people that use the diffuser bottles and add lemon, lime, cukes, etc.
ETA: you get used to the coffee. I weaned myself off putting stuff in my coffee last year. Now I LOVE black coffee.

Day 9.
I read through the timeline again yesterday because so far I feel no different. It promises me that I am not supposed to feel amazing yet, and in 3 days maybe magical things will happen. I hope so! Although I guess if I get through this whole thing with no change, then that's also a good sign because it means I can go back to eating all the yummy things knowing that they're not causing any problems for my body
flygirl22 I've had black coffee once, and it was ok, but it definitely doesn't get me excited like a latte. I used to never drink water and didn't like it, but a few years ago I started just keeping a glass at my desk and always keeping it full. That got me into the habit of drinking water, and now I usually prefer it. Which comes in handy for Whole30!

The "what is whole30" introduction or explanation said that it was kind of a cheat as it's recreating a bad habit from before Whole30. I personally think that a lot of meals will be modified versions of what I currently eat so I'm not sure why it's different.
I'm going to be faced with my first big challenge tonight: Going out to dinner. I've already scoped out the menu and I believe I have something picked out that follows the rules.
I made it through the tailgate this weekend fine. I packed my own food, I just didn't pack enough. I was HANGRY by the time I got home Saturday night.
emilyinchile, I still haven't hit the "I feel AMAZING" stage yet. So...who knows?

emilyj good luck! I have eaten out a couple times ranging from easy (grill restaurant where I had a steak and salad) to super hard (lunch with the ILs at a place we hadn't planned on, had to get creative). I hope yours is easy!
Today is my day 1. I made it through finally after failing miserably last week. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it 100% right. My biggest question is what does "some fruit" mean? I think I'm going to order the book tomorrow. Has anyone read it? Is it helpful?

Some fruit means sometimes add a piece of fruit to your meal. It is best not to eat fruit by itself as a snack. But in the context of a meal, a piece of fruit is fine.

Hey, bk. Good to see another familiar face round these parts!

Hey bully! There's strengths in numbers right? Together we can do this!!

Ok I think I'm going to follow your progress because I've gone back and forth about wondering if this will really make me feel amazing and do amazing things for me, ha. I think we're on similar fitness and eating habits, so I'm going to assume how you do is how I'd do lol. I know I should just take the plunge and try it, but I'll just stick to me 80% clean eating for now.

No, you have to suffer for yourself!
Or FINE, I will keep you updated if I have any major changes. I am sort of taking my lack of changes so far to mean that I wasn't doing all that badly with my diet before. I mean, I definitely ate grains and sugar on a daily basis, but I wasn't living on Twinkies or anything like that.
