We already have a regular animal dyson. We have two dogs and it's definitely necessary! However, We have mostly hardwoods downstairs and I find myself just using the swiffer vac daily. However, its not cutting it! I think this dyson slim might be the answer because I never want to pull out the big dyson for a quick clean up.
I'm hoping they'll have some deals around christmas. Anyone have it? is it overkill with the regular dyson?

Honestly, if you're going to spend that much and you already have a dyson, I'd look into an irobot. We have this one and I love it. We use dry swiffer cloths on it, and it's great at picking up dog hair.

I have a Dyson DC44 -- the rechargeable one. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Seriously -- I'm obsessed with it. I almost never use my regular vacuum now. I have all hardwood and tile, and it works perfectly on those surfaces.
I also have a Roomba, and I much prefer the battery powered Dyson. I hate emptying the Roomba, and it always gets stuck. The Dyson is super quick and easy.

I have been eyeing it up as well because we also have two big dogs and my swifter and I are best friends but I am not sure I can justify having both the Animal and this in my 1200 sq foot home :-(
chickens987 does it get stuck a lot and does it get clogged? I am thinking about something like that.

This is exactly why we got the Braava. We had a roomba and it was always getting clogged with dog hair. The Braava works like a swiffer - so all the stuff is collected on the cloth. Not the most MM or green, but whatevs. When you pick it up you sometimes have to use the hand vac right where it stopped, but even my lazy ass can handle that.
Bonus: you can put a wet cloth on it and it will do an adequate job of mopping!
I have a full size and the original "slim" which was just a slimmer/smaller version of the upright. I'm hoping to find a deal on the cordless slim for quick cleanups on our wood and tile. So I vote no, not overkill
