My therapist is suggesting I start taking this to deal with depression and anxiety. I've had both my whole life but never took medication, only CBT. Now I'm dealing with PPD and PPA and I'm considering it.
I've read that there is an adjustment period where you can be jittery and anxious for about 4-6 weeks. My anxiety after having DD 4 weeks ago was so bad I could not function. I don't want to risk that happening again. Right now I'm within my window of tolerance but really, I have no idea what it is like to just be relaxed and happy so maybe it's time. Plus, it's making it harder for me to deal with the normal stress of having a newborn.
Can anyone maybe taking this share their experiences taking this drug? I'm terrified of the possible side effects but somewhat desperate for relief.
Zoloft was my miracle drug. It was relatively new when I took it and I can say with certainty that I wouldn't be here today without it. It is a taper up/taper down drug though, so DO NOT stop taking it abruptly. I don't remember any anxiety when I started taking it. It took about a week for me to start feeling relief and about 2 weeks to get to a therapeutic level.

I wanted to help set your expectations, it will help you feel more calm, but it isn't going to be a pill that all of the sudden turns your life around. It will help you be able to cope better with whatever is giving you depression and anxiety.
Zoloft is an awesome drug. I had PPA and PPD, I still take Zoloft and Wellbutrin XL but I've taken Zoloft alone before and it was great. Never had anxiety as a side effect. My only side effect is dry mouth. It's worth trying.
