Hi all, My name is D. I am 30, been married for 4 years and had my dd 4 weeks ago. I am from MA. My old screen name was sharknado but there was also a sharknado on ML and i wanted to hang around there so I reverted back my old n.es.t screen name. I am looking forward to all of the sage advice I will receive here and some MOTN posts.
Now my first question. Did anyone use drop ins? DD is pretty gassy and get uncomfortable so I was thinking about testing out the drop ins. We are currently using tommy tippees. She makes SO much noise when she is eating and seems to be sucking in a lot of air because of it.

We do. I tried everything else first because I'm cheap and didn't want to keep having to buy the liners. Then when I tried them, we noticed a significant and immediate difference. Totally worth it for us.
Welcome! I didn't use drop ins but we did use Born Free bottles in addition to the Tommee Tippee ones and it seemed like AJ was at least less burpy after with the BF ones. They have a little filter thing that fits into the top before you screw on the nipple, it's kind of a pain in the ass but I got used to it after a while.
Welcome! We use the kiinde bottle system, which is like drop ins. I love them, and have found the bags extra practical now that we're starting solids, and they can be used for that too.

Did you try a different flow nipple? If she is sucking a lot of air because she wants to eat faster, that might help.
I don't have any experience with drop-ins, but we use Dr. Brown's bottles, and they have definitely made a difference in the amount of gas. Also, if you are feeding formula, you might try mixing it quite a bit ahead of time and letting it sit so that the air bubbles come out of it. I have also heard that the formula pitchers help because they mix less air in. If you're feeding pumped breast milk, you don't want to shake that up anyway as it kills some of the good stuff ;-)

Have you tried gas drops and/or gripe water?
Oh I didn't know this. Maybe I will try a faster flow.
No advice about the drop-ins or gas drops, but we have had better luck with other bottles. I originally used the TTs too, because the wide base of the nipple looked like it best mimicked the breast. On the advice of an SLP feeding specialist, we've tried other options, specifically for the longer nipple. It just happened that they all have much smaller bases, too, which seem to be easier for him to get a good, sealed latch. I like the Born Free and Platex Airvent. He even does better with the basic Medela pumping bottles.
