I like that with the cardigan. I feel like since the occasion is afternoon tea that it's good to dress for that as much as for the job. For me I might wear a printed dress like what I might wear to church and only wear the cardigan or jacket if it's weather appropriate. (I can't remember your location)
I think the pic you posted is appropriate. It'd be good in most business casual to middle of the road business attire, and certainly fine for an afternoon tea.
Better yet, it's stuff you already own, so you're not scrambling to find new clothes!

Exactly! I really don't have time to go shopping between now rand then, and I have to buy a dress for my sister's birthday party in a couple of weeks so another infrequent-use dress is not really in the budget, lol
