My 9wk old DS doesn't care for a pacifier, but a parental finger in his mouth is often the only way to soothe him. This often leaves me no-handed, and I would love to switch him to a pac. Anyone by chance been in this boat and have tips either on how to make the switch, or on pac brand to try? So far he gags on nuk and isn't interested in soothies.
Yes. DD took to the MAM newborn size. Her mouth was little so these were easier to keep in her mouth than the bigger pacis. No we use the 0-6 month size.

We were like that and he took the round tommee tippee from walmart (the target ones were different). I used to jiggle it back and forth in his mouth to get him to latch. Always sometimes I'd do the finger then swap out for the pacifier as quickly as possible.
Also, my kid rejected all pacifiers until 12 weeks. Then she took a Wubbanub (which has a Soothie brand pacifier) and never looked back. She'd been offered this plenty of times before.
DS would only take a paci from H at first so we used him as a gateway. He is still reluctant to take a paci from me but it's more to do with him preferring his hands now.
My DD gagged on them ALL until about 12 weeks she finally took a soothie. We gave DS a soothie in the hospital and he's hooked but he can't keep the dang thing in by himself most of the time.
I have the same issue with my same age DD. So thanks for the info ok Mam. Did anyone with pacifier issues also deal with bottle hating?
My guy has rejected every single paci and bottle that we've tried. And we've tried pretty much every one on the market (including the apparently magical MAMS). He just does not like artificial nipples. Unfortunately, only mine will do!
My DD didn't take a paci until about 10 weeks. Mam brand was the only ones she liked and I basically just persevered for a day of offering it to her until she took it. But she always still need to scream her head off for 10-15 seconds before she would take it and then it was like an off switch for her.
My daughter hated the paci until the last week when she reluctantly began accepting Wubbanubs. One day I just tried and she didn't spit it out after previously acting like it was poison.

We did with DD. we eventually got her to take a bottle, but it was a long, hard road and she always preferred milk directly from the source. She never warmed up to pacifiers, despite our having a nanny who kept trying.
DS loves both pacifiers and bottles. It might be because we introduced both earlier, but he also has a completely different personality than DD.

Ok going to check out MAM bottles, too. I know I need to keep trying to work on the bottle, but it's so hard for both of when she fights it so much. And she nurses so well. It's the complete opposite of my DS.

DD refused bottles and pacifiers until she began teething around 5.5 months. By then, I wasn't going back to work anyway, but she did take the bottle at that point and still loves the pacifier.

So maybe there's hope?! We have 2 month vaccines this week and then I can take her to the babysitting room at the gym. And I really need to get back to the gym. But I'd love to leave a bottle with her there.
