He has some kind of mental handicap when it comes to the processing of dirty dishes. He either scrapes but doesn't rinse them and lets them get all dry and crusty or he fills them with water and leaves them in the sink or on the counter without scraping them. Same thing for cans and jars.
It makes me goddamn insane. And if I ask him why he does it, he just looks at me all big eyed and says he doesn't know. WHYYYYYYYYY!?
Yes, and sometimes H puts his dish on the island, or an empty container. For the record our island does not contain a sink or a trashcan. It makes me ragey :-(

Ugh, yes. Mine "loads" the dishwasher, but really he just puts in 2 or 3 plates all fucked up so that he thinks he can't fit any more dishes in there. I'm all, " dude, if you did it right you would have no problem fitting more than 5 glasses, 3 spoons, and 2 plates"
He never rinses anything either, then gets all pissed off when there is still a macaroni stuck to the fork.

Why is it that he can only fit a few dishes in there too. I fill that thing up, yet when he "fills it up" there are like 4 plates and 6 glasses. Ugh mens

I really don't understand it, because his mom would never have this bullshit. He was not raised this way.
That's the problem with mine. It wouldn't have happened with his mom because she did EVERYTHING. She was still putting away his fucking laundry when he was 21 and living at home.
To this day, I'm the only one who helps with clean up/dishes at family dinners while H, his brother, and their 3 sisters, do nothing.

This thread is making me feel guilty. Usually it's me who leaves crusty and/or gooey dishes "to soak". It's not a men-only flaw!
DH used to be the one who'd actually scrub them, and I felt so guilty. I'm way better now, really -- he's trained me, or at least the guilt has driven me to have my dishes not be a pain in his ass.

What about putting dirty clothes on top or next to the hamper. WTF? You can't do the extra step of lifting the lid and putting it inside? I told him tonight this leaving everyfucking thing where it falls is going to stop. I'm sick of him being this lazy.
My H LOVES to leave dishes/glasses in the sink and let them fill up with nasty water and just leaves them there. Makes me want to barf +o(
I told him recently that every night before we go to bed that the sink needs to be cleaned out...even if that means just moving them into the dishwasher without running it, that is fine with me. I just seriously cannot stand having dishes in the sink for days full of gross nasty water :-P
So far he's making a pretty good attempt, so I'm happy - ha ha!
We have double sinks, garbage disposal in right sink. H insists on filling dishes with water to soak and putting them in the right sink which means if you have anything to put down the garbage disposal you can't, without moving all the dishes in your way. Meanwhile the left sink sits empty. We have fought this for years and I swear now he just does it to tick me off.

So I see my husband isn't the only one. We've made it a nightly ritual to pick up the kitchen and living room before going to bed. We make sure to do it together, usually I pack lunches and take stuff out for dinner while he loads the dish washer. Helps immensely and saves me from having to puke.
Does he also neglect to clean out the toothpaste spittle from the sink?
Mine isn't too bad with the toothpaste issue, but I swear to God he waits until the bathroom is nice and clean and shiney....then he decideds to shave! He leaves little hairs from shaving all over the sink. He claims that he wipes it up every time, but all you have to do is look and you can see that he obviously didn't wipe it up.
And mine won't do dishes (no dishwasher here) because it makes his hands dry. This is a construction worker that is in the elements all day long. And the dishes make his hands dry. Really?
My H likes to leave dirty dishes in the sink all.the.time. Last night he put a pan in the sink and started washing it. He made a big production of it in a 'OMG am I really cleaning the dirty dishes I put in the sink way'. Usually he just leaves them 'to soak'.

This post is making me feel SO much better about my household!! H does every single one of the annoying things listed. I think he has an inherent inability to see/wash dirty pots and pans.
