Maybe you each said a long time ago, but I don't know. What are the origins of your screen names? Is it a conglomoration/spinoff of your real names?

I always say "hill-ka" in my head when I read it.


Does anyone else want to share the origin of their screen name if they feel comfortable (or it isn't obvious...)

Elsa Von Marmalade is just a made-up name I use for online games (Word With Friends and the like). My Bump screen name is because I like the word leap - forward movement/action/excitement - and the show Quantum Leap

Some variation of kershnic has been my internet handle since back in the early early days of AOL when I was about 11 years old. It was a name that I think I partially made up based on the names of some people I knew. But who really knows what lurks in the minds of 11 year old girls. It's pretty random now but somehow after so many years (almost 20?) it's part of my identity.

Erat, your pronunciation is pretty close to correct!

Mine is also just the screenname I have used since middle school. It is actually my initials, but in high school it was also a nickname my friends used in person, pronouncing it "hil-kee". It's my default username for things, and when I originally signed up for The Knot, I didn't think I'd be using it to post to message boards, as I usually try to choose a slightly better screenname for message boards. But hlke is the only thing that's ever really stuck.
