Terrible!!!
So last year I got a $225 bill a specialist who looked it my mother's records and said yeah you don't have the BRCA mutation good bye. After spending a whopping 10 minutes with me!
This year my specialist billed the wrong insurance even though they have a copy of my card! I got an EOB from an insurance company that is not mine saying you don't have coverage through us we are not paying. Well no shit Sherlock! So now I have a million phone calls to make in the morning to fix this mess. Yuck! Oh so if I don't get the insurance figured out I will owe them $355!!!!!
I hear ya. I still need to find out who my ER doctor was from an ER visit last year to get a retro-referral so Tricare will reimburse me for that bill. Due to HIPPA, I have to go there in person and I don't even live in that area anymore. I despise dealing with insurance BS.

Mrsaggie have you offered to send a notarized letter to them requesting that information? That's probably what I would offer to do. I would think that so long as you can prove your identity there should be no HIPPA problem.
Another option maybe would be to sign a medical record release form at your current doctor and have them fax it over requesting your records and your should be able to see for yourself who the doctor was.
I like the notarized letter idea. I actually started at my doctor's and it was a huge confusing mess. My doctor is also in my old area so I probably need to stop screwing around and find a PCM here.
