Definitely consult an attorney. I'm paying a boatload of money for mine, but he is worth every penny as I have no idea how to navigate this stuff. My daughter is 14 1/2, so it's a little different situation and we don't currently have a custody order. Ex is just now pushing for one after I petitioned for a modification of the child support order we've had in place since she was a baby.

I wouldn’t jump the gun and tell you to put a retainer down tomorrow, but definitely at least go to a consultation or two and hear what an attorney has to say. Having a professional 3rd party analyze the contempt issue will help in determining how long of a road this will be to go down.
I know a few people who have dealt with contempt and spent big bucks on an attorney, only to have a judge basically dismiss it. So, lots of $$$ for no result.
