So I mentioned that wes landed a phone interview with an awesome company last week. He thought it was for last Wednesday, but it was actually yesterday. The first "interview" was basically a 5 minute chat to talk more about the position and make sure he was still interested and to see if he was worth interviewing basically. The 5 minute chat went well and he was set up with a real phone interview for today.
Well he just got off the phone from his actual interview! It went great and he has an in person interview on Tuesday!!
It just sales call center. But it's a huge step away from retail so we are excited! The pay is basically double what he makes now and he will be full time with benefits and the whole shebang!
Yay! I have a huge grin on my face right now! Way to go W! Does he have his interview outfit picked out? I am so excited for you guys!
I wanted to thank you again for all the tips you gave! Having questions for the interviewer seemed to really impress them.
He has a lot of slacks and dress shirts. It's a very casual place-dress code is legit jeans and a tshirt. The only things he's debating is whether or not to wear a tie.

That's awesome! I totally get it. I worked retail for many years, and was ecstatic when I got out.

You are welcome, I am glad to help .
Go with a tie. He won't regret wearing it, but could potentially regret not wearing it.
I've never regretted being dressed up for an interview. Even though everyone else might be wearing jeans and tees (including me once I actually worked there) I always felt like it shows respect for the company and for the position. If he's in an outfit he feels professional in, that attitude can translate to more confidence and a better interview.
Good luck Wes!
If he wants to prepare, have him tell the mirror (or you) an example of a time when he demonstrated leadership and a time when he failed at something (choose an example where he later turned it around).
