So I totally called it that Missy was the Master. I like a female Timelord. I was not expecting a dead Danny Pink. The episode was a lot darker, I was kind of hoping that was the direction they would take this season.
I was disappointed that Danny died. I liked the idea of Danny as a companion. I'm tired of female companions. Of course, this is Doctor Who, so Danny could still be the companion. No one seems to stay dead.
I like a female timelord, but something about her whole Victorian look bothers me. It feels so anachronistic. I think it's because we already have the Paternoster Gang, so it seems like a weird overlap.
I did not call it. I am a little disappointed because I was hoping it was something to do with the Library. I was shocked by Danny's death, but I am glad to see it is a little darker this season.
I was wondering if Missy was the Master. I like that she is a woman and I like the Victorian dress. Makes me think of Miss Hartigan, who 10 called a brilliant mind.
I don't love the Missy's look because she mostly comes across as a sinister Mary Poppins to me and it takes me out of the show a bit. I was surprised by Danny's death but rather enjoyed Clara's reaction to with her granny, that it was just so "ordinary." I like the gender switch of the Master as I see no reason why they couldn't regen as a different sex but find it kind of interesting that Missy's reaction to the Doctor is a little more...sexual?
The Cybermen would be my favorite villain but for all their "upgrades" they can't seem to do two basic things: move quickly/RUN, and have quieter pistons in their damn legs!! You can hear them a mile away for crying out loud! Also, why weren't any Londoners reacting in the final scene where they come out? I really preferred with Ten how all the people didn't have these stupid "forgetting" of traumatic things. Each Christmas, people started LEAVING London because something bad was always happening (spider star, killer mechanical Santas).
I'm guessing Danny doesn't stay dead and they figure a way to bring him back. I do hope they use this "the dead aren't really dead" thing to bring back River. I know it'll probably never happen, but I have to have hope. I'm not sure I like how Missy is playing the Master. He was so charismatic; she's just sinister.
I am conflicted. I like Missy as the Master but I hated that it was drug out over the episode. Okay it wasn't, but the first time the Doctor asked she didn't just answer and it felt like a dig at the audience, like C'MON GUESS IT! DON'T YOU KNOW WHO SHE IS? And it just felt kind of like Moffat's schtick at this point and it's a little annoying.
But they better explain her motivation and especially how you know she is still alive. And it better not take 1-2 seasons to do so and be an offhand comment because "duh, they are priests." I may or may not still be bitter about the whole Silence thing.
I didn't like that Danny died, but I also think he won't stay dead and I too hope this could mean a River revival. And I'm going to ditto the annoyance that no one was running and screaming and seemed to forget about the Cybermen.
Does anyone else think Moffat is just a mess? The only reason Sherlock wins so much is because of Mark Gatiss. I feel like Moffat is just grasping at crazy straws and hole filled plot lines.
I don't think Moffat does a good job at the season arc. His one-off episodes are so amazing, but when he has a whole season to work with, it just gets so twisted and confusing and nothing ever seems to be cleared up.

I'm mostly a lurker here, but have to chime in with a major annoyance of mine... When 10 and Martha go looking for the Master, 10 says he will recognize him as soon as he sees him. He realizes Saxon is the Master through the Tv!! Wtf with the inconsistency?!
The master is like a mix of cruella de ville and mary poppins. IDK I like this doctor, but the episodes have been a bit more boring this season. Im hoping the finale makes up for it.
