I know Ethan's not supposed to be awake for more than an hour or two at a time at this age.
The kid stays awake for 4 or 5 hours at a time then gets so overtired that he screams himself into hysterics. He was awake from 5 to 11:30 this morning, crying non-stop. Also, he sleeps like shit at night. I'm getting panicky that he won't settle into a fairly normal schedule by the time I go back to work.
I've tried the crib, bassinet, swaddles, feedings, swings, bouncy seats, rocking, swinging, walking, etc. Oh my god, I'm going to fucking scream!
Dd was like this. I spent a few months standing and jiggling. I ended up starting nap CIO at like three months old. She still isn't a big napper and will fuss awhile at night before she falls asleep.
Once I learned I had to just let her scream for 5-15 minutes things got a lot better.
My DD was like this. Did you say he has reflux or am I confusing you with someone else? Even once my DD started meds she had to sleep in the rock n play. Being flat on her back made her scream. She needed the incline. Also, she only napped in my arms. Not worn, I had to hold her.
This is the only thing that enabled K to sleep after we learned she had reflux. I love it. It is adjustable to lying nearly flat, but still enough incline to help ease her discomfort or you can the right recline for E.

Have you tried white noise?
DD was HORRIBLE at first with the crying and no sleeping. She would usually calm down if I turned a pedastal fan on and had it pointing one way and stood behind it with her and swayed. Also, she like the sound of water. If I swayed with her by a running faucet that would work sometimes too.
Yes, he does have reflux. He's on Zantac right now, but yeah, I'm thinking it's not working.
I have wedges in his crib and bassinet, so he doesn't lay flat. We also have various noise machines.
I have not tried wearing him yet. I'm really hesitant to do that because I go back to work in 4 weeks and don't want to create a habit that she won't accommodate. I think I may have to give in to this one though, before I lose my mind.
And lmao at the hair dryer! I set the vacuum cleaner on fire when Shane was a baby doing the same thing!
