Hi! So... we're on day 3 at our new daycare, and while M is melting down when I leave her, B is doing fine. DCP asked if he slept through the night on Tuesday night, and I told her that he had one wake-up at 3am to eat, but went right back to sleep (didn't really wake up, just ate and back down, so it was super easy). She said, "Well, then let me see if I can get him to sleep through the night for you," and because I had to head out the door, and I wasn't sure what to do with that, I was like, "Okay," and left.
Anyway, last night, B STTN. We got home a bit after 6, and he slept from then until this morning. I believe he woke up to nurse, but once he did that, he passed back out and didn't wake up until after I got up to get ready for work (J got up to feed him). This is all well and good for us, but I'm not sure if it's good for him to be up so much during the day. Other daycare moms, what say you? Should I bring it up, or let it go? I'll XP this to MMMs, but I want more than one opinion. Thanks!
M was sleeping through the night from about 4 weeks on and it didn't seem to bother her. During the day she still napped when she was tired but the sleeping through the night I think is what helped get her get on a good schedule for the day which was really nice.
Did she say that she was keeping him up longer to help make him sleep through the night? or is she maybe just getting him more activity in the times he is awake?
I second Dana's questions. He still needs good, frequent rest, so more activity is great, but I would want to know exactly what approach she was taking. We had a couple sttns around 2 mo, but that's it.
I would want to know what she thinks makes kids sttn. H slept through the night from 6 weeks-12 weeks and it was AMAZING. He also napped more reasonably during that time. Then his napping went from not great to nonexistent and we were back to waking up all night.
Yes find out her secret so I can copy but I've always found the worse my girls napped the worse night time sleep was. Curious to what she thinks is the secret
i'm worried about what she's doing..... he needs rest during the day, too. while it's perfectly safe for him to STTN now, if it's not natural for him, it's probably not good for his development.

I'd want to know more too. BKB STTN early on around 12 weeks, but some nights she would sleep 12 to 14 hours and then some times she only slept 6 or 8. Just depended on how much she is growing. I would also make sure she would get rest during the day. I still let bkb sleep during the day when ever she was tired. She started to get into a 3 a day nap routine at about 12 weeks too. Each nap was 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

This is why I, personally, wouldn't be worried. If daycare tried to keep H up longer he wouldn't sleep at night. Sleep begets sleep in this house. However different babies and all that Since I started hiking with H he has been way more tired which means napping better and sleeping at night better because he is exhausted from all the sights, sounds, and keeping his head up while I hike. Maybe he is getting worn out at daycare?
